V. Updates

a. Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs

i. Meet with the Provost on Thursday

b. Associate Vice President of Student Organizational Affairs

i. Five grants will be heard this Friday

ii. Homecoming Decorating Party will be October 1st.

d. Government Relations Officer

i. Looking for 1-2 Volunteers to assist with National Voter Registration Day on the Quad next Tuesday, 28th, from 10AM - 1 PM.

e. Associate Vice President of Inclusive Excellence

i. Resiliency Room Update

1. Creating marketing and a statement of purpose for the room. Will

be hosting an open house soon.

ii. Land Acknowledgement Project

1. Reopening this conversation from prior years. This has been going

on for multiple years

1. Looking at restarting the Gathering All Leaders and Activists

coalition event

f. Communications Officer

i. We’ll be buying a Canva!

ii. Interacting more with other orgs on campus

g. Ethics Officer

i. N/A

h. Vice President

i. Bill #01 and Resolution #01 both passed last week in the Assembly and Senate.

ii. This week in the Assembly/Senate would normally be only committee meetings. We will be opening an actual meeting for the first portion so that they can confirm the four people that we are potentially nominating to

them today. There is also a resolution that Will will be presenting. You’ll

see it linked on the agendas that you received this morning.

iii. Housing reached out to Kenny and I to set up a meeting and so we meet with them later this week.

i. President

i. Dr. Tromp following the UTEP football game sent an email expressing concern for the behavior of the student section, I met earlier today and last week with Ed Whipple, the President of the Corral-- Alek Rea, Cory

Gougler, and Charlie in how to best navigate training for the student

section in how it usually behaves.

ii. The Aramark Condemnation resolution was presented to the Aramark President of University Services Thursday last week. We expect to see

significant change in their behavior early this week, if not, the University will be taking stronger action

iii. Assuming the confirmation of Taite, I will still be in attendance to the IESC and Funding Board meetings to ensure smooth transition. For the

Funding Board, I’ll remain a voting member until Taite receives the

Viewpoint Neutrality training.

a. Kenny- Next meeting will take place in the Fishbowl Room of Student Involvement at 3:30 pm Monday, September 27th, 2021.
