Negotiations Update - SRVUSD and CSEA
Annual Reopeners, Session 9 - October 21, 2025

On October 21, 2025, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) and the California School Employees Association (CSEA) negotiations teams held a half-day bargaining session.  While the District and CSEA reached agreement on the annual reopener negotiations for the 2024-25 school year on August 5, 2025, the tentative agreement on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding Unit II, Working Out-of-Class, Audio Visual Technician classification was not ratified by CSEA membership. As a result, the parties reconvened to continue negotiations on this matter.  

The parties discussed the following topics:

• New Job Description: Child Nutrition Operations & Procurement Technician

District Proposals Provided to CSEA - October 21, 2025

The District provided the following proposals to CSEA. Highlights of each proposal are summarized below:

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Computer Systems Technicians Working Out-of-Class 2025-26

• The parties agree to the following provisions for the 2025-26, 2026-27, and 2027-28  school years for Computer Systems Technicians (CSTs) who are directed to perform work in the Audio Visual Technician classification.
• Upon the direction of the supervisor and at the request of the Maintenance Coordinator, CSTs assigned to work out-of-class on audio-visual tasks during the 2025-26 school year shall be paid at the rate of pay applicable to the higher classification, at the lowest step, which will give a 5% salary increase for each hour worked in this capacity.
• All requests for CSTs to perform this work will be delivered in writing via email by their supervisor and carbon copy the Maintenance Coordinator. Work identified as Tier 1 technical support in the current CST job description—such as checking or changing projector bulbs, cleaning projector filters (up to 10 feet high), testing devices by verifying cable connections—is not considered out-of-class work.
• Only Computer Systems Technicians will be assigned to out-of-class work related to the audio-visual tasks.

CSEA Proposals Provided to SRVUSD - October 21, 2025

CSEA provided the following proposals to the District. Highlights of each proposal are summarized below.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU): Computer Systems Technicians Working Out-of-Class 2025-26 

• The parties agree to the following provisions for the 2025-26, 2026-27, and 2027-28  school years for Computer Systems Technicians (CSTs) who are directed to perform work in the Audio Visual Technician classification.

• The District shall provide Computer Systems Technicians with the opportunity to express interest in assisting in audio visual technician duties. These individuals will be placed on a list maintained by the District and will be given priority when assigning audio visual tasks as out-of-class work. The intention of the list is to keep the distribution of these tasks equitable. The District should only deviate from this list when all individuals on the list are unable to perform the audio visual task at the needed time. In instances where audio visual tasks are assigned to CSTs not on the list, the District will notify CSEA that this was necessary and provide the reason why the individuals on the list were not able to complete the work.
• The MOU will expire without precedent on June 30, 2028.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU): Monte Vista High School AWRE Contracted AV Work

• The MOU is intended to memorialize negotiations between the parties concerning contracting A/V Technician duties through AWRE for MVHS baseball field.
• The District currently has camera installation work to complete for the MVHS baseball field.

• The overall project involves software that utilizes artificial intelligence for the analysis of player performance.
• Warranty of the cameras to be installed is dependent upon AWRE completing installation and maintaining the equipment.
• This project is fully funded through parent donations for MVHS, and further delay would cause conflict with the parent group.

• The Parties agree that the District may contract out the A/V installation of cameras for this project, as having CSEA staff install the cameras would negatively affect the warranty of the purchase.
• The contracting out of A/V duties under this MOU shall not cause a CSEA bargaining unit member’s contracted time to be reduced. Additionally, contracted A/V providers shall not be used as the basis of reductions in hours and/or layoffs
• The maintenance of all cameras and software involved in the MVHS baseball field project shall be completed by AWRE staff. No CSEA bargaining unit members shall be expected to provide maintenance for technology involved in this project.
• This agreement is meant to note the understanding of the impacts and effects of how this contracted work may impact bargaining unit members.
• The decision to utilize AWRE for the MVHS baseball field project meets the criteria in CA Ed. Code 45103.1(b).

 New Job Description: Child Nutrition Operations & Procurement Technician 

• Purpose Statement: The Child Nutrition Operations & Procurement Technician supports the Child Nutrition Program for the purpose of performing duties related to the acquisition, management, and oversight of food, supplies, and equipment. This position ensures the efficient operation of procurement processes and inventory control, maintains compliance with district policies and applicable regulations, and facilitates communication with vendors and District personnel regarding purchasing, deliveries, and related documentation.

Tentative Agreements Reached

While no tentative agreements were reached on October 21, 2025, the parties are committed to continued collaboration on all topics.

The next negotiations session is tentatively scheduled for October 28, 2025. Topics to be discussed:
