Dear Students,

Here we are… the last full week of school.  We are so proud of all your hard work throughout distance learning.

This week your job is to complete your zoo enclosure model or picture by Wednesday.  Once you are complete go into SeeSaw and record yourself sharing your presentation.  The presentation should be completed by Friday.

We are looking forward to seeing all the creative enclosures.

Have a terrific week!

Miss Dugan, Mrs. Pittinaro, Mr. Pittman

Dear Third Graders,

For the month of June you will be taking part in a STEM project.  This will begin on June 1 and will continue through June 12.

Your Task:

The Seneca Park Zoo is looking for creative architects to design new enclosures for the animals at the zoo.

Your Job:

**You can use the Schlegel library database or other resources.

For questions concerning the library database contact Mrs. Palmer at jamie_palmer@webstercsd.org

For example: desert, plains, water, mountains, etc..

Where does it sleep? What does it need to play with?

What would be the area?

What would be the perimeter of the enclosure?  What kind of fencing would you need?

Ex: Peacocks and elephants together

Hello Third Graders and Parents!

Our learning continues to build off of each week.  This week we will continue our learning about water, fractions and weather.  You will notice that we are slowly adding in more learning for you.

In our Schlegel Grade 3 Google Classroom we will also have the slide in the New Learning folder.  This work is  for you to complete this week.  Here is an overview of your week:

ELA: One Well, The Story of Water on Earth

Lesson 3 will review pages 4-5 in One Well.  After listening to the pages you will be answering questions about these pages.  When answering the questions you are expected to restate the question in your answer.  As a refresher, listen to the youtube video on how to restate questions before completing lesson 3.

In lesson 4 you will be reading pages 6-7 and then finding the main idea, details, and also answering 2 questions about the text.  Remember to restate the question in your answer.

** Please complete lessons 3 & 4 by Friday.  **

Also, be sure to read daily as well.  You can find books in RAZ kids.

        Math: Fractions

This week you will be using fraction concepts to solve real world problems.  **There is no lesson to view.**  To help you practice solving problems with fractions complete pages 339-340 in your math book (these do not need to be turned in).

Keep in mind while solving: use your understanding of fractions to help you solve and draw fractions bars or number lines to help you.

**On Thursday we will post an “Exit Ticket” for you to complete.**

Be sure to go on Splash Math and check out the Fraction online game for extra practice.

        Science: Weather:  Lesson 3

This week you will be exploring data!  You will be using a thermometer to measure air and water temperatures and you will examine the data to look for patterns.

We are all so proud of everyone's hard work.  Please continue to always do your best and we look forward to “seeing” you all this week!

Miss Dugan, Mrs. Pittinaro, Mr. Pittman

Hello Third Graders and Parents!

We hope you all have had a terrific weekend.  We look forward to seeing you all in our Zoom’s this week!

This week our learning will be very similar to last week.  We will continue our learning about Water, fractions, and also weather.

**Much like when we were in the classroom each lesson builds off of the last one.  Please be sure to complete the lessons from last week (4/13) before beginning this week.**

In our Schlegel Grade 3 Google Classroom we will also have the slide in the New Learning folder.  This work is  for you to complete this week.  Here is an overview of your week:

        ELA: Water

This week we will be working on Main Idea and Details.  Please be sure to view the Main Idea and Detail video.

Last week you explored and inferred about our topic: Water; this week you will be listening to a couple pages read aloud.  After reading you will be asked to write the main idea and supporting details of the pages.  There is a copy of the “note-catcher” in the Schlegel Third Grade Google Classroom (in the New Learning folder).

** Please complete the note catcher by Friday.  **

Also, be sure to read daily as well.  You can find books in RAZ kids as well.

        Math: Fractions

This week continues to be a review of fractions.  We will continue to compare and find equivalent fractions, but this week we will be using a number line to help us.  There are 4 different parts to the lesson this week.  You will begin with Would You Rather, the Lesson, and next the math book pages (there is no need to turn these in).  We encourage you all to go on Splash Math and the Fraction game as well.

**On Thursday we will post an “Exit Ticket” for you to complete.**

        Science: Weather:  Lesson 2

This week you will be exploring... Why is Weather Important?  There are videos to watch, pictures to view, and also items to record.   You  will complete this in your Student Science Journal or on paper if you do not have the journal at home.

We are all so proud of everyone's hard work.  Please continue to always do your best and we look forward to “seeing” you all this week!

Miss Dugan, Mrs. Pittinaro, Mr. Pittman

Hello Third Graders and Parents!

Wow, we miss you all so much!  We love having the time to connect with you all during our ZOOM calls.  It is so great to see everyone's faces and hear your voices too!

This week our learning will look a bit different than what it has been.  We have created a one page slide of all the new learning you will take part in this week.  All the assignments are linked to the words.  If you hover over them you will find the lessons.

In our Schlegel Grade 3 Google Classroom we will also have the slide in the New Learning week of 4/13 folder.  This work is  for you to complete this week.  Here is an overview of your week:

EL: We are beginning our next module with lessons 1.  Within this lesson you will explore some resources and infer what our topic will be.

Math: Our focus will be to explain equivalence of fractions and compare fractions by reasoning about their size. This will be a review and a good refresher for us all.

Science: Weather:  This week you will be taking some time to observe and record our weather, watch and read weather forecasts, and also generate questions you have related to weather.  You  will complete this in your Student Science Journal.

Miss Dugan, Mrs. Pittinaro, Mr. Pittman
