Notice of Race:
Spring Friday Evening Series
May 30, June 6, 13, 20, 27, 2025
(Due to the 4th of July being on a Friday, the schedule has been shifted earlier, with racing starting after Memorial day weekend this year. REVISION 1: Memorial Day weekend race cancelled to deconflict gig harbor cruise. Revision 2: Throwouts adjusted to account for 5 race regatta. Revision 3: due to overwhelming participation adjusted start schedule for 5 minute delay between Div 3 and Div 2. Discussion underway about splitting Div 3, feedback welcome)

- The Racing Rules of Sailing rule 35 will be changed. The changes will appear in the Notice of Race (NOR). The sailing instructions may also change other racing rules.

- ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
- The regatta is open to all WSCYC skippers with PHRF ratable boats. Racers who do not know their boats rating are requested to contact the WSCYC Vice Commodore before race day. This will allow time for assignment of an “off the cuff” rating that (we hope) will be fair to you as well as the other participants. In the event of disagreement over a rating, the decision of the Race Committee shall be final.
- There are three classes. No spinnakers or other flying sails may be used in Class 3, (cruising or NFS).
- Eligible boats may enter by completing the form provided below.
- Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Race Committee.
- Competitors are to check in with the race committee before the 1st warning of each race.

- IF THERE IS NO RACE COMMITTEE:
- The starting mark and course will be set by a volunteer. The course will be announced via VHF and or hailing.
- One start for all classes. Start time will be based on GPS time and will be announced via VHF 72 or by hailing, but should occur at either 6:00 (South Start) or 6:05 (North Start)
- Take your time upon finishing, (when your bow passes the line between flag on the dock and start mark). The mark will be set close to in line made by the east breakwater to make sighting the line easier.

These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury. Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent, catastrophic injury or death by drowing, trauma, hypothermia or other causes. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the race.
