2024 UCAR RULES CARAWAY SPEEDWAY
GENERAL RULES:
The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and, by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official. DAH MOTORSPORTS. LLC/CARAWAY SPEEDWAY shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in the opinion of Caraway Speedway Officials do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OR SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of TRACK Officials. Their decisions are final.
The interpretation and application of the U-CAR Rule Book, by Caraway Officials at an event, shall be final, non-appealable and non-litigable. In order to promote racing, to achieve prompt finality in competition results and/or governing of Tour competition, ALL MEMBERS, INCLUDING COMPETITORS AND OFFICIALS, EXPRESSLY AGREE THAT DETERMINATIONS OF BY TRACK OFFICIALS AS AN ENTITY, TO THE APPLICATION AND INTERPRETATION OF THE RULES AND GUIDELINES SET FORTH, ARE NON-LITIGABLE AND THEY COVENANT THAT THEY WILL NOT INITIATE OR MAINTAIN LITIGATION OF ANY KIND AGAINST DAH Motorsports. LLC /Caraway Speedway, U-CAR OR ANY PERSONS ACTING ON BEHALF OF DAH MOTORSPORTS, LLC AND CARAWAY SPEEDWAY, OR ANY OF ITS SUBSIDIARIES WITH RESPECT TO SUCH DETERMINATIONS OR TO RECOVER DAMAGES OR TO SEEK ANY OTHER KIND OF RELIEF AS A RESULT OF SUCH DETERMINATIONS.
Regulations and specifications set forth herein are automatically amended by revision(s) contained in subsequent Technical Bulletins issued by Caraway Speedway/ Rulebook Amendment(s).
DRIVER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
All competitors are subject to Official’s approval. Any minor must submit in writing a racing resume for approval. All minor competitors must have a parent and/or legal guardian to sign a parental release form. Any Competitor which has won a race or Championship in any Division considered to be a Division/Class above U-Cars are not allowed to compete in this Division without prior approval from Track officials.
MISSION STATEMENT: Caraway Speedway has established an affordable entry level class of racing. The purpose of this class is to allow beginners to learn track procedures, racing manners and gain experience in an affordable manner. There will be no altering of the rules unless (Caraway) Officials deem it necessary in the interest of safety or fair competition. If the rules below do not say you can do it, then do not! This is a fun division designed to keep racing cost at a minimum and
competition at the highest, thus making it exciting for both the fans and drivers.

ELIGIBILITY SPECIFICATIONS
COMPETING MODELS
Any 1980 or newer 4-cylinder (8-16 Valve) front wheel drive 4 passenger sedans are permitted.
No rear-wheel-drive vehicles permitted.
ACCESSORIES:
Except as provided below, cars and drivers will not be permitted to carry on board computers, automated electronic recording devices, electronically actuated devices, micro-controllers, processors, recording devices, electronic memory chips, traction control devices, even if inoperable or incomplete. Competitors will not be permitted to have or have had on his / her possession or in his / her car a device(s) at Event designed specifically to enhance the traction capabilities of the car, even if inoperable or incomplete.
BODY REQUIREMENTS:
Body must remain stock unless stated below. No bracing of body panels permitted.
Plastic front inner fenders may be removed. All metal inner structures must remain stock.
Door inner shells must remain intact except the driver's door to allow for a roll cage.
Doors must be welded closed.
If door jambs and lock pillars are removed, A minimum four-point steel roll cage is required with a minimum of four (4) door bars on the driver's side and three (3) door bars on the right side. 1 3/4 inch outside diameter, .090” minimum wall thickness required. Right door bars may be straight. Door bar(s) on the driver's side must be plated outside with 1/8 steel.
Driver's door bar(s) and all bars within drivers reach must be padded.
Two bars may pass through the rear firewall and connect to the rear frame rails.
No bars may go through the front firewall.
Hood and deck lid and hinges must remain stock and be in working order. A minimum of 2 steel hood pins must be used to secure the hood and deck lid.
No front or rear spoiler permitted. No air ducts, scoops, etc.
Cars competing with non-stock bumper covers may receive up to a 25-lb weight penalty.
Headlights and taillight openings must be covered with metal.
Driver’s compartment must be enclosed.
Firewall(s) must remain stock front and rear. Do not remove anything. Rear firewall must be covered with 22-gauge steel.
All upholstery (seats, headliner, carpet, door panels, etc.) must be removed along with flammable material(s) in the trunk.
The dash may be complete and stock. The radio and heater/ac controls may be removed.
Optional: Sheet metal dash may be used but must be complete all the way across the interior of the car.
GLASS:
All glass must be removed except for windshield and rear-view mirror. 1/8” Lexan may be used.
Side mirrors must be removed.
CHASSIS & SUSPENSION:
All suspension systems, components, and parts must be acceptable to TRACK Officials. Unless otherwise authorized by TRACK Officials, non-ferrous suspension parts will not be permitted. The following minimum requirements must be met: NO REAR STEER / CRABBING PERMITTED.
FRAMES:
All frames and subframes must be stock. No reinforcements allowed. The stock steel floor pan must be unaltered.
Frame rails and sub frames must be stock for year, make and model.
FRAME HEIGHT:
Minimum frame and/or body height is 6" with a driver.
No more than 1" variance between left and right-side height.
NO adjustments allowed in the driver's compartment.
NO electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, remote control, or any other device that changes the handling characteristics or height of the car will be permitted.
BRAKES / TIRES / WHEELS:
BRAKES:
Standard production brake components only.
No brake bias or balance bar permitted.
Brakes must always work on all 4 wheels.
WHEELS/TIRES:
Aftermarket front wheels are permitted and are required to maintain the same offset as the stock steel rear wheels.
(Caraway) Officials must approve all tires used in competition.
The tires must be the same size. 13”, 14”, 15” and 16” (inch) radial tires have been approved for use.
165-205/75-60 series.
Minimum tread depth 3/32. TRACK Officials may confiscate, or drill tires they consider too slick.
Tires must be a minimum of 350-tread wear and must be visible from outside of tires.
Chemically altering a Tire is not Permitted. TRACK Officials may inspect tires with a durometer. Any tire below fifty (50) hardness points will result in disqualification.
The car must start the race on the tires which were used in qualifying.
Aftermarket wheels must be approved by Caraway Speedway Officials
WEIGHTS
Ballast:
All added weight must be in 5-pound blocks, minimum.
All added weight must be painted white and identified with the car number.
No weight can be added in front of the front wheels or behind rear wheels.
All weights must be bolted to the car. No tie straps permitted.
WEIGHT:
Minimum weight is 2,000 lbs. with the driver.
WEIGHT EXCEPTION: Cars equipped with:
12 valve single cam engine – 2,200 Lb. Minimum total Weight with max.175 LB Split
16 valve single cam engine – 2,400 Lb. Minimum total Weight with max.125 LB Split
16 valve double cam engine – 2,500 Lb. Minimum total Weight with max.100 LB Split
Chevy Cobalt 2.2 & 2.4 VVT equipped cars allowed at 2,800 Lb. Minimum total Weight with a max 100 LB Split
STEERING:
Stock steering components only.
Stock steering column only.
WHEELBASE:
The wheelbase must remain within +/-1/2 inch of stock factory wheelbase.
The body, frame and suspension must remain completely stock! No bracing permitted.
Cars must have front and rear tow hooks or other means, for a wrecker to hook to.
SUSPENSION:
Suspension parts must remain stock for year, make and model. No spacers permitted.
Any Caraway Speedway approved springs permitted.
All bushings must be as supplied by the OEM, rubber only.
Shocks must be mounted in the stock location. No racing shocks permitted. Steel body shocks only.
Maximum camber allowed, plus or minus 2 degrees. Caraway Officials determine the method of measurement.
All suspension systems, components, and parts must be acceptable to Caraway Officials. Unless otherwise authorized by Caraway Officials, non-ferrous suspension parts will not be permitted.
ENGINE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be stock for the year, make and model with stock engine mounts.
4-cylinder (8-16 valve) engine only, No turbo or supercharged engine permitted.
16 valve motors cannot exceed 150 hp OEM
NO aftermarket high performance parts permitted. All parts must be OEM.
Engine displacement must be stock as manufactured No polishing or weight reduction of internal engine components. All OEM cast numbers must remain intact and unaltered.
Stock or stock replacement pistons only.
OEM BLOCKS may be cleaned up for rebuild with following requirement:
Engines manufactured and installed in 1990 or earlier may be bored at a maximum of +0.020 (.508mm).
Engines manufactured and installed after 1991 or later may be bored at a maximum of +0.010(2.54mm).
CYLINDER HEAD:
Heads must remain stock. All related parts must remain stock for the make of the engine.
No high performance or high compression heads allowed.
CAMSHAFT:
Stock factory production camshafts only.
Stock production for year, make and model. No aftermarket manifolds allowed.
CARBURETOR/FUEL INJECTIONS:
Must remain stock.
No turbo or superchargers.
CARBURETOR SPACERS:
No aftermarket spacers allowed.
AIR CLEANER:
The air cleaner must be stock as manufactured.
No aftermarket allowed.
Paper element only. All air must be filtered through the element.
Single cam push rod engines may use a track approved aftermarket air intake not to exceed the total square inch measurement of the throttle body opening.
ENGINE - ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Only standard electrical systems are allowed. No aftermarket or high-performance components allowed.
Stock ignition chips must be used.
The engine must start with a stock ignition key.
BATTERY:
Only one (1) 12V battery is permitted.
Battery must be located under the hood in stock location.
COOLING SYSTEM
Stock cooling system only. No aftermarket radiators permitted. No antifreeze use is permitted.
Stock fans only. Fans may be wired to run continuously.
Air Conditioning system must be discharged, if equipped. Condenser and pump may be removed.
ENGINE LUBRICATION:
Stock production only.
No oil coolers or remote oil filters.
EXHAUST SYSTEM:
Exhaust must be factory stock for year, make, and model. Mufflers may be removed.
Exhaust pipe must extend past the driver to the side of the car.
No headers allowed. Must run stock exhaust manifold.
No exhaust may exit through the driver’s compartment.
TRANSMISSION:
Transmission must remain completely stock for year, make and model.
Manual or automatic allowed but must not be altered.
All forward and reverse gear must be operable from the driver's compartment.
The minimum Flywheel weight for all cars is 14 pounds.
TRANSAXLE:
Must remain completely stock for make and model.
FUEL CELL:
Fuel cell recommended. 8 gallons maximum capacity. No outside filler necks.
Fuel cell must be mounted in the trunk area. Fuel cells may be mounted in spare tire recessed areas and must be mounted with a minimum of 4 straps, two straps in each direction. You may not cut the floor pan to mount the fuel cell. No plastic fuel cells. The use of a manufactured fuel cell must be acceptable to Caraway Officials.
No fuel lines are permitted within the driver’s compartment, routing must be acceptable to Caraway Officials. All gas lines must run under the car.
An external electric fuel pump may be used and must be mounted in the trunk in a safe manner.

TRANSPONDERS
Transponders are required and must be installed in a location that allows the transponder to accurately pick up the scoring loop. The transponder must be installed on your UCAR any time you are on the track. If you do not have your own AMB transponder, you may rent one from Caraway Speedway when signing in. It is your responsibility to have the transponder installed correctly. Recommended installation of the transponder: You may cut up to a four (4) inch hole in the floor pan near the right front leg bar of the roll cage. You should cover the hole with Lexan and mount the transponder over the hole in an approved bracket/pouch that is available for purchase at the main office. Lost or damaged transponders are the responsibility of the driver. The replacement cost is $600.00.
IDENTIFICATION AND LETTERING:
Cars must be numbered. Car numbers will be assigned, registered, and approved by Caraway Speedway. Numbers must be affixed on both doors and on roof 18” minimum height. Roof number must be read from the driver’s side of the car.
Car numbers must be affixed to the right rear and on the right front. Numbers must be legible as determined by the Race Director.
Numbers will be distinctly contrasting to the color of the car.
Maximum two-digit numbers
Cars must be neatly painted. No obscenity or other derogatory items will be allowed.
Cars must display contingency sponsor’s stickers to be eligible for contingency awards in the locations designated by Caraway.
Caraway Officials have the right to temporarily change race car numbers to avoid duplication.
Note: ALL DRIVER’S WILL BE ASSIGNED A NUMBER BY CONTACTING Caraway.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DRIVER, NOT THE OFFICIALS OR REPRESENTATIVES, THE PROMOTER OR TRACK REPRESENTATIVES, TO ENSURE THAT HIS/HER SAFETY DEVICES / SYSTEMS ARE APPROVED, CORRECTLY INSTALLED, MAINTAINED, PROPERLY USED.
If door jambs and lock pillars are NOT removed, A minimum four-point steel roll cage is required with a minimum of 3 door bars on the driver's side. 1 3/4 inch outside diameter, .090” minimum wall thickness.
Driver's door bar(s) and all bars within drivers reach must be padded.
Door bar(s) on the driver's side may be plated outside with 1/8 steel.
No bars may go through the front firewall.
Two bars may pass through the rear firewall and connect to the rear frame rails.
Threaded pipe, pipe fittings, and lap weld pipe are not permitted.
PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT:
A fire suit is mandatory. It must be Nomex material, double-layer, clean, and in good condition.
SFI rated fire retardant gloves and shoes required at all times while in the car.
A full-face helmet is mandatory and must be a minimum Snell SA 2005.
Hans, Hutchins II, Hutchins Hybrid or Next Gen devices are the mandatory Head and Neck Restraints and must be SFI approved. Head and Neck Restraints are strongly advised, EVERY TIME a driver is on the racetrack.
A fire extinguisher in working order and mounted within reach of the driver is mandatory. On board fire suppression systems are recommended.
Aluminum racing seat required. The seat will be bolted to frame with six (6) 3/8” bolts with a minimum of 1.00” OD flat washers .085” minimum thickness 3/8” USS Lawson “Tuff Torq”, or equivalent.
Four (4) bolts through the floor of the seat and two (2) on though back seat frames must be mounted securely to the roll cage.
Right side headrest mandatory.
Choice of an approved left side headrest, or auxiliary net mandatory.
P.P.E continued
Must have a minimum of a quick release 5-point seat belt with a 3.00” minimum width. Seat belts must be securely mounted to the frame or roll cage. No visible wear or tears allowed.
All bars in reach of the driver must be padded with a fire-resistant padding. No foam rubber permitted.
Must pass Caraway Technical Inspection A window net is mandatory and must be web or mesh style. The net must be secured to the roll cage with two steel rods or bars, with the top being of quick release design and must fall when opened. The latch must be forward and driver accessible. Caraway Officials must approve the condition of the window net and release.
Steering wheel centers must be padded. Steering wheel stop is mandatory on the steering shaft below the top mounting point. An approved quick release hub is permitted.
Mirror allowed in the middle of the car or in front of the driver.
