7th Grade Science Curriculum At A Glance

7th grade science will cover key concepts found in the Nebraska State Standards for Science. The 7th grade course is divided into major sciences: Life, Earth/Space, and Physical Science. The main goal for this class is to develop a knowledge for and understanding of modern science and technology through activities, experimentation, and inquiry.  Students will be asked to participate in labs and projects that will develop the following skills: inquiry, writing, teamwork, math, time management, and presentation.

First Quarter:  Scientific Inquiry, Solids, Liquids, and Gases, Atoms and Bonding

Second Quarter:  Chemical Reactions, Intro to Cells, Cell Processes and Energy, Genetics

Third Quarter:  DNA, Intro to the Human Body, Controlling Body Processes, Minerals and Rocks

Fourth Quarter: Plate Tectonics, Earthquakes, Erosion, and Deposition, A Trip Through Geologic Time
