Associate Pastor Job Description

PURPOSE
The Associate Pastor will be responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the church’s children, youth, and emerging adult ministries, which should creatively engage people in consistently meaningful experiences that promote the church’s mission to grow in Christ’s likeness.
SUPERVISION
This position is under the supervision and support of the Pastor.
SCOPE OF WORK AND MINISTRY
CHILDREN’S AND YOUTH MINISTRY:
The Associate Pastor will lead the Children’s and Youth Ministries of our church by:
- developing relationships with children, youth, and families in a way that reflects Christ’s likeness.
- laying the foundation to cultivate a relationship with God and/or deepen an existing relationship with God.
- serving as a resource for children and youth and their parents in their various developmental and parenting needs.
- collaborating with the Pastor, Children’s Council, Youth Council, and lay leadership to plan and coordinate Children’s and Youth Ministry programs and activities.
- working with appropriate committees, councils, and staff to secure and train lay leadership.
- fostering and coordinating church involvement in the extracurricular activities of children, youth, and their families (i.e. attend sporting, recreational, and school related activities, etc.).
WORSHIP AND PASTORAL MINISTRY:
The Associate Pastor will partner with and support the Pastor in the worship and pastoral ministries of the church by:
- contributing to and participating in weekly worship services.
- coordinating and leading all worship services in the absence of the Pastor.
- performing congregational care at the direction of and/or in coordination with the Pastor.
- performing administrative duties under the direction/supervision of the Pastor such as:
- keep regular office hours
- attend staff and Church Council meetings
- schedule meetings and work with all committees, staff, and/or ministry groups in relation to associated projects, ministries, and/or duties of the Associate Pastor.
