Studio Ijeoma: Architectural/Industrial Designer
Ekene Ijeoma is an artist based between his studio in Brooklyn and lab Poetic Justice Group at MIT Media Lab. He researches how social, political, and environmental systems unjustly affect people and develops sound, video, sculpture, installation, and performance works that expose these systems and engage people in communally changing them. At his lab, they’re researching how art can scale to that of injustice through developing multimedia artworks that are public, community-driven, multisite, and networked. His work has been presented by Onassis Foundation, Exploratorium, Van Alen Institute, Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, Contemporary Art Museum of St. Louis, Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, Contemporary Art Museum of Houston, The Kennedy Center, Museum of the City of New York, Neuberger Museum of Art, Storefront for Art and Architecture and Museum of Modern Art among others.
He’s looking for a full-time design assistant with education or experience in architectural or industrial design. Currently, his studio is working remotely until they move into a new space, but the candidate would need to be in NYC, preferably in Brooklyn. So there’s some flexibility with schedules but preferably 10-6 M-F.
Roles and responsibilities include:

-Creating proposals; including researching, copywriting, creating plan/elevation drawings and renderings, creating budget and timeline
-Managing projects from design to production, including creating short and long-term goals and related tasks
-Managing fabricators and other specialists; finding them, and coordinating timelines and deliverables
Requirements include:
-4 year undergraduate degree from a design or architecture-related program
-2-4 years of experience working for an art or design-related studio
-Knowledge of Google Workspace (especially Docs, Sheets, and Slides) and Adobe Suite (especially Photoshop)
-Interest in art and technology
