Introduction

Hello, I am Linton Soares, and I started at Neil McNeil in 2007. One of my first encounters was a student telling me that he was never taught by a brown teacher. I was happy to hide my culture to that point, but that comment sparked a realization that representation was important.

In 2013, I became a Secondary VP, one of only three of a racialized background in our board. Three years later I was promoted to Principal, again being only one of two minorities at that time. I am happy to say the landscape is slowly changing and there’s so much more to come!
