NIRSA Creative Excellence Awards Committee Charges

The Creative Excellence Awards Committee (CEA) works with NIRSA Headquarters to administer and promote the Creative Excellence Awards program., These awards are designed to recognize the innovation and creativity of NIRSA members and acknowledge their outstanding accomplishments in marketing recreation and wellbeing programs. This committee solicits entries, reviews all submissions, and selects each year’s winners.

The Committee term is July 1 – April 30, however the bulk of the work for the committee is completed in November and December of each year, during the application review process.  

NIRSA’s mission, vision, and strategic values guide the “how” and “why” for our professional development offerings, networking opportunities, and resources, as well as all strategic priorities. NIRSA committees are expected to fulfill their charges, operate the committee, and make decisions and recommendations consistent with NIRSA’s values and in support of NIRSA’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.

2022-2023 Charges

  1. In cooperation with NIRSA HQ staff, maintain an operations manual that serves as a guide for future CEA Committees; the manual includes processes and timelines for the recruitment, selection, notifications to recipients and non-winning applicants, as well as other standard communication of the CEA Committee.
  2. Review and modify the application form and judging rubrics, including category types, and process as needed.
  3. Recruit applicants via multiple communication channels prior to the application deadline.
  4. Review and score all incoming applications, including providing helpful feedback to applicants.

Additional charges may be presented to the committee, or by the committee, during the year as new initiatives arise.
