  1. Call to Order - Regular Meeting
  1. Chad called the meeting to order at 7:08 pm.

  1. Roll Call: Chad Fish, President; Kelli Jackson, Vice President; Tamia Hurst, Secretary; Nate Seeley, Treasurer; Stacey Weyand, Member; Cayce Hamerschlag, Member

Absent from BOD: None

Staff: Susan Likes, HOS; Urulu Yazzie, FD

  1. Vision – Children’s Kiva Montessori School will provide a vibrant and engaging learning environment based on the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori that supports all students’ academic excellence and ability to become empowered, creative, lifelong learners responsible for themselves, their community, and their environment. 

Mission – Children’s Kiva Montessori School uses authentic Montessori methods, Community-Based educational approaches, and integrated academics (STEAM) to support student academic success, responsibility, and independence.

  1. Motion to Adopt Agenda: Nate moved to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion seconded.  No discussion.  All in favor of the motion.  Motion carried.

  1. Discussion of Location
  1. Crow Canyon:
  1. Available for short term use (3 to 5 weeks).
  2. Adequate space and great opportunity to explore their center.
  3. Crow Canyon can provide transportation to and from the school.
  4. Cost is feasible.
  1. We officially have a building permit!
  1. Anticipated completion of Phase I - 3 weeks.
  1. Communication to families:
  1. Susan will send out an email tomorrow, Saturday, to all families regarding plans for holding school next week.
  2. Susan will send out the information again in the Kiva Kids Newsletter on Sunday.
  3. Susan will provide hard copies of building and location information on Tuesday to all students.
  1. Plans for Tuesday, September 4th:
  1. Popup tents: Kelli, Chad, Susan, Tamia
  2. Meet at the school at 6:45 am for set up

  1. Sunshine Law
  1. Reminder for everyone to be aware of and follow this law, specifically regarding emails.
