Studio Policies

  1. Tuition for an individual weekly 30 minute lesson lasting from the end of August-beginning of June is $1700/year or 10 payments of $170/month.  A buddy lesson costs $2100/year total or 10 payments of $210/month which can be split between the two buddies. A student could also alternate weeks with a friend and share the cost of the $1700 or 10 payments of $170/month. Cost for Introduction to Keyboard class is $700/year or 10 payments of $70/month. This includes the cost of music and recital fees. The break for November and December mirrors the break of the school calendar.  January lessons will be virtual and emphasize music theory.

  1. All payments must be made electronically through our website.

  1. If given 24 hours notice, any lesson can pivot to virtual due to illness.

  1. It is important for families to have access to internet connections and devices for Virtual January and the possibility of a virtual lesson due to illness.

  1. There will be one Sunday or Thursday a month that will offer a group lesson and make-up lesson times. Students are welcome to participate in group lessons, but those are optional. Make-up slots will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. No refund will be given for missed lessons, but students are welcome to take advantage of the make-up lesson slots each month.

  1. Teacher Absence: Illness or other emergencies may arise which prevent the teacher from offering a lesson.  If the teacher is unable to provide  scheduled lesson due to illness or other reasons, make-up lessons will be scheduled at a time when the student and teacher are available.  No refunds or credits will be provided if the make-up lesson cannot be scheduled.

  1. Student Exchange List: The studio does not give refunds or credits for missed lessons and only offers make-up lessons during the monthly Sunday or Thursday times.  However, students and parents may choose to participate in the studio’s lesson exchange list. Each year, the studio prepares a list of students who are willing to participate in the exchange policy and will prepare a list of those student names and contact information for parents who wish to participate.  If you know that an absence will occur, you may use the contact list in order to try to exchange lesson times with another student.

  1. Open communication is expected and encouraged.  The studio will communicate any important announcements actively and will respond to emails promptly. mosaicchildrenschoir@gmail.com

  1. The studio will offer several sharing opportunities throughout the year in the form of class lessons, recitals, or informal salon series sharings.  Students are encouraged to participate as much as is developmentally appropriate.

  1. The studio is at 2644 Jefferson Park Circle (the blue house on the left ¾ around the circle with a sculpture in the driveway.  For individual lessons, parents are welcome to park in the gravel driveway in front of the house (there is a “no parking” sign, but it is okay to park there.) Students and parents turn left at the path and enter the studio through the side house entrance. Parents are welcome to drop-off or wait during the lesson in the garden room.  For Introduction to Keyboard or group lessons, parents need to use parking at Jefferson Park Baptist Church, or drop off students.

  1. Please be punctual with the lesson time and bring all materials to class each week.

  1. Regular practice is necessary to progress, families must commit to supporting their student in creating a routine that works for progress and growth.  It is important for students to have either a working piano or weighted keyboard (full) where students can practice.  The studio will work with families to determine the best practice routine and help with instrument selection if needed.

  1. Parents are welcome to indicate whether or not they allow photos or videos of students to be used on the Mosaic website or Facebook page.

  1. A student in good standing needs to commit to lessons for a year; however, if a student decides to discontinue taking lessons from the studio, the studio requests at least one-month advance notice.  Depending upon the reason for the termination, the studio may refund pre-paid lessons at its discretion.

  1. The studio reserves the right to terminate the contract with the student/parent if the student has excessive absences, is not practicing consistently or at all, or if the teacher determines that the student is not cooperating or progressing in his or her music studies.  Prior to any decision to terminate, the teacher will meet with the parents to discuss the situation.  Refunds for prepaid lessons will be provided at the discretion of the studio.

  1. Please review this Studio Policy as it sets out the rules that our studio has established to make the learning experience beneficial for all students.  These rules are part of the contract you have with our studio.  While we know that unexpected events may arise that necessitate an exception to these rules, we reserve the right to determine when to grant any such exception.
