Thurs. 3/1: 2 pm Mahjong Play this ancient game of skill, luck and strategy.  All skill levels welcome!

 

Thurs 3/1: 6 pm   Crafty Capers: Make an absolutely adorable bunny wall hanging perfect to display in your home this spring.  Registration and materials fee are required.

Fri. 3/2: 3:30 pm Happy Hour Enjoy a Keurig beverage for only 50 cents.  Children will enjoy hot cocoa for 50 cents, too.  Welcome the weekend and unwind with your child at the library!

 

Sat. 3/3: 2:30 pm Winter Painting Party with Steve Duprey  Spend the afternoon at the library creating a beautiful winter scene with artist, Steve Duprey.  All the necessary materials to create a painting you will be proud to hang in your home are included.  Class is size is limited to 10 participants; registration is required.  Thanks to grant funding from Friends of Macedon Public Library, the cost to participate has been reduced to $15.  This fee includes: the lesson, paint brushes, canvas and the paint. Mon. 3/5: Noon   Macedon Senior Luncheon

Mon. 3/5 1 pm: History of St. Patrick’s Day  Join Jack Kowiak as he details the fascinating history underlying the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

Tues. 3/6: 6:30  pm Lavender Linen Spray  Join Janice Moon and learn how to create your own lavender scented linen spray.  The spray will keep closeted linens and clothing smelling fresh.  The scent may also help to soothe and relax.  Space is limited.  Call 315-986-5932 to register. A supply fee of $3 will apply.

Wed. 3/7: 2 pm Iris Folding Join this group and make stunning cards for friends and family.  Bring pretty paper, cardstock, scissors, tape and glue. Current members of the group are always eager to teach beginners.

Wed. 3/7: 3 pm Movie & Activity Watch a family friendly movie.  Do an activity following the movie.  Public and homeschooled children in grades 3-5 welcome to attend.

Fri. 3/9: 5-10 pm: Teen Lock-In  (age 13+) Have fun in the library after-hours with other teens doing teen directed activities such as: playing games, bashing B-movies, making munchies or just talking about stuff.  Must have reliable transportation available at 10 pm. This month we’ll try our skills at “Miniature Golf in the Stacks.” A permission slip signed by a parent or legal guardian is required for participation in this program.  

 

Sat. 3/10: 2 pm Puppy Tales  Children in grades K-5 are invited to read to a furry friend to develop confidence and fluency while reading aloud.  There is no registration required and several service dogs will be available.

Sat. 3/10:3:30-4:30 pm  Maker Day!  Enjoy a variety of maker stations set-up throughout the library. Build and create using library materials and tools.  No need to register, this is a drop-in program for families to participate in together.  

Mon. 3/12: 4 pm Make & Take Scented Bath Salts  Use library supplied materials to design your own scented bath salts.  Choose from grapefruit, jasmine and lavender essential oils. Store the salts in a glass, hexagonal shaped jar with a golden lid for a pretty display in the bathroom.  This would also make a lovely gift.  No registration is required, the program will run while supplies last.  A fee of $3.00 will apply to cover the cost of the materials. Adults and teens welcome to participate.

Tues. 3/13: 6 pm Cheerful Spool Earrings and Bracelet Set  Teens and adults will enjoy creating jewelry from brightly painted wooden spools.  The set will be a great compliment to many spring and summer outfits!  Registration is required as materials are limited.  A fee of $1 will apply for materials.

Wed. 3/14: 3 pm Movie & Activity Watch a family friendly movie.  Do an activity following the movie.  Public and homeschooled children in grades 3-5 welcome to attend.

Thurs: 3/15 Noon  Friends of Macedon Public Library Book Discussion  Call the library for more details about the book to be discussed.

Thurs. 3/15: 12:45 pm Friends of Macedon Public Library Meeting  Join this group and help support the library by working on fundraising activities.  New members always welcome to attend.

Mon. 3/19 1 pm Older Adults and Substance Abuse with Ann Olin, Lifespan Program Manager  Find out more about how easy it can be to fall into the trap of substance abuse.  Learn safe and healthy ways of how to avoid becoming unwittingly involved in substance abuse.

Tues. 3/20: Noon-1 pm  Lunch ‘n Learn with Michael Sandel  Bring your own bag lunch and listen to a lecture series called, “Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do?”  by Harvard Professor, Michael Sandel.   When Sandel hosts political philosophy lectures in the US and England, he draws audiences of over 1,000 people.  His style is engaging because it is done in a Socratic style and inspires participants to carefully examine their closely held beliefs. Participants in the program can enjoy their lunch while watching a lecture.  Some discussion following the lecture will follow.

Sat. 3/24: 2 pm  Author Visit & Book Discussion  Author Darlene Chisholm will be visiting to discuss her book, A Stroke of Love. Five copies of the book are available for borrowing.  The book details the daily experiences of a wife whose husband, a hard working, upstate NY farmer, has suffered a significant stroke. It is sure to resonate with anyone who has gone through a life-threatening medical situation with a loved one. All are welcome to attend whether they have read the book in advance or not.
