Accommodations and/or modifications:

Appropriate accommodations and/or modifications will be provided for students with documented disabilities. Accommodations and modifications are types of adaptations that are made to the environment, curriculum, instruction, or assessment practices in order for students with disabilities to be successful learners and actively participate with other students in the general education classroom or in school-wide activities. Specific accommodations and modifications are determined by the student’s Section 504 team or Individual Education Program team. If a student with a documented disability is eligible to receive accommodations and/or modifications their special education case manager will contact me within the first two weeks of class and provide me with explicit directions and/or resources to implementing the accommodations and/or modifications that are included on the student’s Section 504 plan or Individual Education Program. Communication with me is essential to the successful completion of course expectations and the implementation of accommodations and/or modifications.

Dear Parent and/or Guardian,

Welcome to a brand-new year at Eastmont Junior high School! It is my honor and pleasure to have your student in my class. Geometry builds upon prior learning from Algebra 1, and establishes a foundation for continued success in high school, college, and future careers. An emphasis will be placed on understanding the concepts and the importance of being able to support or verify an answer.

Homework and assessments are given often in an effort to solidify the learning that occurs in the classroom, and understand which concepts still need practice. I encourage students to see me for extra help when they have trouble with their work. I am confident that with the proper support, each student can and will succeed in mastering Algebra 1. It is my hope that we can work together to create the support system needed to allow your student to reach his or her full potential.

I maintain high expectations for achievement and behavior in my classroom. Grades are updated daily. This is meant to promote conversation between student, parent, and teacher throughout the year. I encourage you and your student to check grades regularly and reach out if you have any concerns or questions. The best way to contact me is through email or ParentSquare.

Please sign below to acknowledge that you and your student have read and understand the syllabus. Also, please assist your student in acquiring all class materials (listed on p.3). Let me know if there are any issues. Your support is much appreciated.

Please return this signed page and have all class materials by Monday, August 29 (or sooner!).
