PDF Locker & Tools is a Chrome extension that helps you handle common PDF tasks locally in Chrome, including locking PDFs, merging files, splitting PDFs, and extracting selected pages. The extension runs in your browser side panel, processes files on-device, and does not send PDF contents to external servers as part of its core workflow.
We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your PDF data or personal data as part of the extension’s core PDF processing workflow.
Specifically, the extension does not:
- collect PDF contents on external servers
- collect authentication information such as passwords, tokens, or cookies from websites
- collect browsing history
- collect device identifiers or location data
- run analytics or telemetry inside the extension’s core workflow
- share exported PDF data with third parties
To perform PDF actions locally, the extension temporarily reads files you choose to use with the tool and the settings you save on your device.
Examples:
- PDF file contents and document structure needed to lock, merge, split, or extract pages
- file names and page ranges needed to generate output files
- locally saved settings such as owner password, output suffixes, and default tool preferences
This data is processed locally in your browser or extension runtime to create the output you requested. PDF contents are not transmitted by the extension to external servers.
The tool uses on-device data solely to:
- process the PDF action you selected
- create downloadable output files on your device
- apply your locally saved settings, such as naming suffixes and PDF lock defaults
The extension stores only limited settings locally on your device. It does not persist your working PDF file contents after processing is complete.
Examples:
- output PDF files are saved only when you choose to download them
- PDF data handled during processing exists only temporarily in memory while the action runs
- saved settings, including the owner password and output naming preferences, are stored locally in Chrome storage on your device until you change or remove them
- if Chrome extension storage is unavailable in a non-extension context, local settings may fall back to browser local storage on the same device
We do not share data with third parties because the extension’s core PDF workflow does not transmit your PDF contents off your device.
The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
- `sidePanel`
Used to open and run the tool inside Chrome’s side panel interface.
- `downloads`
Used to save the PDF files generated by the tool when you choose to download them.
- `storage`
Used to save your settings locally on your device, such as owner password, output suffixes, and default tool preferences.
The extension does not request host permissions to read arbitrary websites as part of the current PDF workflow.
Because the extension processes PDFs locally and does not send file contents to external servers in the core workflow, the main security considerations are on your device. In particular, downloaded PDF outputs and locally saved settings, including any saved owner password, should be handled carefully on any shared or unmanaged machine.
If the extension’s functionality changes in a way that affects privacy or data handling, this policy will be updated and the effective date will be revised.
