This Unit We Will… Math: This week we are finishing our mixed fraction review, covering all fraction operations. Next week we will move back to whole numbers as we learn the order of operations. ELA: We've been reading aloud to one another this week, emphasizing how fluency improves comprehension. We encourage you to read with your students when possible and ask them questions and listen for variations of tone, inflection, and pausing for punctuation. We are continuing our writing and developing our characters for Abandon Elementary School using wordplay, idioms, and creativity. Science: Students are finishing up their Ecosystems projects. They put together their terrariums and are studying how an ecosystem works. They are going to move on to Food Webs & Energy in Ecosystems next week. Social Studies: Students are continuing their study on the American Revolution. They are learning about the social, political, and economic reasons that the colonists revolted against King George III and Great Britain. Marketplace: We hope that students are making great progress with their production at home! Marketplace Day is four weeks away! This means they should have 25% - 50% of their products made. We have been discussing overhead costs, target audience, and consumerism this week. | |

We have created an e-wallet for each 5th grade teacher so that our parent community can donate to our classrooms. Please check back for more information. |
Announcements and Reminders 5th graders will soon be learning all about middle school! We are excited to share the unique Fine Arts, sports opportunities, and class choices available to them. Check back for specific dates on 6th grade shadowing and more information on Middle School information night. We will take our final 5th grade field trip on Monday, March 18th.
