COVID-19 Safety Protocols

The health and safety of our children and staff is the number 1 goal during these times. Following are the protocols we will adhere to at M. H. Moore:

  • All staff members have completed the Covid 19 Safe Schools video prior to coming back to the campus.
  • PPE equipment and supplies will be inventoried often and replenished monthly
  • Sanitizing stations will be placed in common areas throughout the school. Socially distance signage will be posted around the school.
  • All students, visitors and staff will wear a mask while in the building; except during lunch. This includes PK nap times.
  • Students and Staff will complete the FWISD Safety Check before entering the building. Students’ temperatures will be taken daily in the classroom during breakfast.
  • Nurse Julie will follow the protocols established by Health Services Department if a student arrives not feeling well or with a temperature. Students with temperatures will be isolated in a separate room next to the nurse’s office until they are picked up by a parent.
  • Access inside the building will be limited. Visitors to classrooms and lunch will not be allowed at this time. Front Office staff will always be available to help parents. We encourage parents to call the front office for help. If a parent needs in-person help, visitor will be screened for temperature, Covid 19 symptoms and must wear a mask while in the building. Visitors will also be asked to social distance while in the office. Early Dismissals for students will be handled through the office. Parents will call the office with the student’s name. Student will be gathered from the class and taken to parent’s car and loaded into it.
  • Classrooms will have hand sanitizer available at all times. Students will be reminded to wash their hands frequently. Disinfectant wipes will be available in all classrooms for use by teacher or students to wipe down surfaces like desks or desktop computers. Teachers will have a sanitizing spray in their classroom that may be sprayed into a paper towel and used to wipe surfaces down. Sharing of student/personal materials will be discouraged whenever possible.
  • Any furniture shared should be wiped down before another uses that piece of furniture.
  • Whole classroom restroom breaks will be discouraged. Students in the PK/K hall will use the restrooms in their rooms. For restrooms in the halls/gym, two touch lights will be on the wall outside each restroom. Students will be asked to touch the light with their elbow when they go in (turns on) and when they leave (turns off). This will let students know that the limit of two students in the restroom at one time has been met.
  • Custodial staff will clean/sanitize restrooms and other high use areas frequently throughout the day (ex. doorknobs, stair rails, elevator buttons). At the end of the day, when the school is empty of students and staff, custodial staff will fog the school with a disinfectant mist.
  • HVAC has been checked and will run earlier so that the inside air has been refreshed before students arrive.
  • Seating in the cafeteria will be socially distanced and students will face the same direction. If numbers of students needing to each lunch exceeds the numbers allowed in the café, some classes will eat lunch in their rooms. Custodians will sanitize café tables in between each group. Traffic in the café will be one way whenever possible.
  • Hall traffic will be at minimum with specific class transition times in order to keep the number of students in the halls down. Students will social distance while moving through the school. Visuals have been put on the floors to help remind students of this. Reminders been painted outside also.
  • Recess times will be staggered with assigned areas for classes to go outside. Mask may be removed if students are socially distanced outside.
  • Students are asked to bring their own water bottle if possible.
  • Classrooms will have assigned seating and a seating chart will be kept by the teacher. Each chart will be good for a week. The dates a student is present can be written in the square with the student’s name.
  • Café will have assigned seating also. There will be a similar assigned seating chart for the café tables.

Campus Transitions for Students

  • Schedule will be such that there is the least amount of student movement in the halls and common areas as possible. Teachers will go to the students rather than students exchanging rooms. Traffic on stairs will be one way and one class at a time (with students socially distancing). Students will walk in a manner that leaves room to social distance and face in the same direction when moving in the halls or common areas. Visual reminders to social distance will be on the floors and sidewalks.
  • Students will enter the building at 7:40 and go to their homerooms for breakfast. PK – 2nd will enter at the glass doors near the carpool lane. Both sets of doors will be used. 3rd – 5th students will enter at the front of the building. All front doors will be unlocked to help alleviate a log jam. The sidewalk will be marked with visuals to help with social distancing.
  • Staff will be assigned high traffic areas to monitor student movement in the morning and afternoon and watching for social distancing in the halls and common areas.
  • Staggered dismissal system (starts at 2:50) will have students stay in homerooms (PK dismissal starts at 2:10) Using a google document, we will call student/family members down by numbers. Staff will load students in cars, while others monitor student movement going to carpool pick up. Gym will be the holding area for late arrival parents (after 3:10). Auditorium will be the holding area for very late parents. Café will be used to house students that are walkers during inclement weather until it is safe to walk home. Daycare students will meet in front entry (as previous years) while social distancing. A Staff member will monitor these students and release them to the appropriate van. Students who walk home will be picked up at their homerooms by a staff member and escorted out the back doors (end of hall back doors) so students can walk home. Parents are going to be encouraged to drive and stay in carpool lane at dismissal time so we can limit the number of parents that walk up to school.
  • PE will be outside as weather permits. Students will socially distance outside. Art and Music classes will be in students’ homerooms.
  • Recess will be scheduled for each class. Students will socially distance while moving through halls and common areas.
  • Traffic will be one way as much as possible in the café. Floor will be marked with social distancing visuals. Any classes that must eat in their rooms will move through the café first during their grade level time.
  • Restroom breaks - One student at a time may leave their room to go to the restroom. 2 students will be allowed in the restroom at one time.
  • Drills will concentrate on safety and accuracy to social distancing expectations rather than speed.

Transportation

  • RISE Bus – Bradford meets students at the front door and takes to classroom. The same will happen for dismissal. At this time we don’t have any students scheduled to ride this bus
  • Day care vans (2) – students will be collected by support staff. They will social distance while waiting for arrival of van. Right now we have not heard from Wesley or Camp Fire if they are providing this service.  Parents will communicate to teachers if students will ride the day care vans. Ms. Lugo will organize the pickup system for students. Upper grade students may walk to the front gathering spot by themselves

  • In the Café – 50 students can sit at the tables and be socially distance. All students will face in the same direction at the tables and will be sitting a minimum of 4’ apart. Students in the café will have assigned seating and must stay seated unless given permission to leave their seat. Lunches in the café will be of a “grab and go style”.  If students must eat in their classroom, they will enter the café first, pick up their lunch and return to their room with a staff member. Support staff will monitor students during teachers’ 30 minute lunch break.
  • 2 students may leave the café and go to the restroom at one time.
  • Traffic in the café will be one-way traffic whenever possible. Visual cues will be on the floor to remind students to socially distance while waiting in line for lunch.
  • If a parent drops a lunch off for students, parent will be met at the door. Parent will put the lunch in a tub/container (one per lunch) with student name. Student will pick the lunch up from a table in front of the office. Tub/container will be sanitized before being used again.
