NJAHS

Mrs. Singleton will not be at school on Friday, so the NJAHS meeting has been cancelled.  I will be pulling each grade sometime this month to go over Emerging Excellence Criteria.

Our next meeting will be February 1st.

Chromebook Care & Troubleshooting

Remember to keep your Chromebook updated and the history cleared. This prevents a lot of issues with the Chromebooks. When it doubt, clean it out!

Math Club Meeting

There will be a math club meeting Tuesday, January 22 during both lunch and advisory. If you would like to attend, first tell your advisor, then go to the front of the 7th grade lunch line, get a to-go tray, and take your lunch to Mrs. Peters’s room. The MathCounts competition is in February and we will be taking the second test to see who will go to the MathCounts competition in Ankeny.

Help Wanted - Studio Technicians

Mrs. Singleton is looking for students who would like to help set up the art studio for the day.  You would come in from 7:45 to 8 to work on tasks that keep the room running smoothly and set up for the day like prepping paper, clay, and brushes. If you are interested, see Mrs. Singleton in the art room.

MS/HS Library Stress-Less Station  - Stop in, and take a minute to relax! Students and Staff - On the right side corner shelf of Circulation Desk, grab a color sheet, a box of colored pencils and relax for a few minutes! Return pencils to Stress Less Station, take your paper with you!

Remember that observations are cancelled on 2 hour delay days. You are expected to be in class on those days. You will then need to check with Mrs. Teghtmeyer to see when the make-up observation will be scheduled.

ACT Boot Camp

Interested students should email (ets@swcciowa.edu) their name, school, grade level, and cell phone number. ACT Boot Camp will be held Saturday, February 2 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the SWCC Creston Campus (Round Instructional Building, Room 180). This camp is free to ETS students and lunch is provided. Non-ETS participants may also attend at a cost of $50.00.

FCCLA

The next trip to Mosiac will be Tuesday, January 22nd (note the date change). It will be our board game day!  Meet in the FCS room immediately after school. If you have any easy games: Go Fish, Checkers, BINGO, etc. Feel free to bring your games! You can receive silvercord for attending

Students (Madyson Hill, Diana Sagastizado, Cady Crawford, and Shayla Sitzman) who are attending the STAR Event Workshop in Ankeny on Wednesday, January 23rd need to turn their priors into Mrs. Teghtmeyer by Friday, January 18th. We will leave for the workshop at 7:50am on January 23rd. Make sure you bring all of your supplies. Meet in the FCS room.

The next chapter meeting will be Friday, January 25th during lunch and advisory. We will be giving information out about state conference and our final fundraiser before state. All members need to attend this meeting!

We will be working the basketball concession stands on Friday, January 25th. Please sign-up in the FCS room if you are able to work. We also need at least one parent volunteer!

Girls Track

Any girls interested in attending a track and field Clinic at Grand View University in January (multiple dates available) see Coach Eckermann. Sessions include Throws, Long Jump/High Jump, and Hurdles. Throwers talk to Coach Best.

We have a few copies of the 2017-18 Yearbook left for sale. They are $50. See Mrs. Reece to purchase one! The goal is to feature each student at least 3 times in the book!

Walmart Tuition Assistance

Walmart employees, after 90 days of employment, can qualify for tuition assistance. Please see Mrs. Scott for more information. Information is also posted on the bulletin board near the nurse’s office.

FCA

FCA (Fellowship for Christian Athletes) you need not be an athlete to attend.  We will meet every other week on Tuesday mornings at 7:40am in room 119.  If you have questions or want to know when the meetings will be held, please stop by Mrs. Murphy’s room.

The Hansen-Furnas scholarship application may now be picked up in the high school office. There is a basket on the counter with the application. It is due March 1.

The Coolidge Scholarship for Juniors

The 2019 Coolidge Scholarship application is now live.

The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United States. Any high school junior who plans on enrolling in college in the fall of 2020 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply (unfortunately current high school seniors are not eligible to apply).

ACT Boot Camps- Feb. 2

SWCC and TRiO will host an ACT Boot Camp on Saturday, February 2 in Creston. Transportation will be provided for juniors and seniors participating in ETS. The cost is free to ETS students. There are 25 openings. Please contact (641)782-1392 to sign up (do not text). On average students who participate in boot camp raise their score by three points!
