MS/HS Library News
What’s new in the MS/HS Library??
Lots of new titles - print, eBooks, audiobooks -
eagerly waiting for you to check them out!
Come in and take a look, or use Alex Researcher (our online library catalog) to search for them from your Chromebook. Look in the bookmarks area under the URL in your browser. Go to Clarke Book Marks and pull down to choose Alexandria. When Alexandria opens, click on Researcher (looks like a magnifying glass). You can do a quick search by author, title, series, subject or all word, or go to the Explore section and click on “What’s New.” Our online catalog is available 24/7! Questions? Ask Mrs. Wiley today!
If you are interested in reading the book before or even after the spring play, the library has a copy of The Radium Girls by Kate Moore. It is an Iowa High School Teen Award book and is located in Iowa HS Book Awards/Iowa Teen Awards display on the last shelf of the nonfiction book section, next to the white board. Come check it out!!
Rubik’s Cubes are in the MS/HS Library!
Rubik’s Cubes are available for 1 day check-out at the circulation desk (Mrs. Wiley’s desk), just ask to check one out! They are due back to the library at the end of the day! There are seven different cubes to check out - a few are the standard 3x3, others are very different! Come in and check out all of the different styles we have! Do not let your borrowed Rubik’s Cube become a distraction during class! If that is reported to be happening, they will only be available during MS Clubs time at the end of the day.
**If a Rubik’s Cube is taken away from you during class by a teacher, you will not be able to check out another Rubik’s Cube for 3 days.**
**MS - If you have missing assignments - no Rubik’s Cube. Mrs. Wiley will be checking the list before checking one out to you.**
MS/HS Library Book/Author Requests
If you would like to make a book request or an author request for the MS/HS Library, please click here. Mrs. Wiley will find the book/author and read reviews for your suggestion. If it’s recommended for MS/HS students, it may be added to our library.
Signing-in/out of the MS/HS Library
Signing in/out of the library - Students need to sign-in/out of the library.
Mrs. Wiley uses those sign-in/outs for library usage data. There is a black binder on the circulation counter. This is the sign-in/sign-out binder. You must sign-in when you come into the library and sign-out when you leave, unless you are coming in with a class.
Don’t throw old markers away! Students, teachers, staff, bring your old dried-out markers, any kind, to the MS/HS Library. Place them in the white box inside the main door, and when the box is full, they will be shipped, free of charge, to Crayola to be recycled.
The paper box is almost full - keep bringing in markers to recycle!
To seniors and all students who may have an open period during the school day: Students are to either leave campus or sign in the LMC.
Staying in the lounge, cafeteria, a teacher’s classroom while they have class, etc. are NOT PERMITTED. You may be in a teacher’s classroom if they have asked you to be there to make up work, but this should be on an as needed basis and not daily.
