CHAMELEONS: week 4 (Last week)
This week in Art, we will be adding color and texture to our chameleons.
Follow this step by step process to add color and texture to your chameleon picture...
Step 1:
Using your crayons- color in the spikes on top of the chameleons body. Use bright colors. You can make use the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) or use 2-3 colors and make a color pattern. Press down firmly with your crayon when you do this step.
Step 2:
With your crayons- trace along the borders of each section you drew of the chameleon. We will be painting these with watercolor and having a “wall of wax” around the shapes will help you control where your paint goes. Then add a pattern to each section using your crayons. I tried bubbles, straight lines & wavy lines for mine. I chose to leave the head without a pattern, but you can add one there too if you want.
Step 3: Get out your watercolors and begin to paint. Try to dip just the tip of your brush in water and then “wake up” your paint. The wax in the crayons will help keep your paint where you want it. Use the same colors of paint over the patterns you drew with crayon. Paint the branch brown and the background in blue or green.
Your parent or guardian can upload this work to square one art if they would like to order any items with your art.
