
Negotiations Update - SRVUSD and SEIU
Annual Reopeners, Session 2 - June 24, 2025
The San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) negotiations team and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) negotiations team met on June 24, 2025, for the first session of annual reopener negotiations. While the District and SEIU have already reached agreement on the necessary budget reductions, this session focused on annual negotiations of articles identified by both parties.
During the session, the parties engaged in conversations on the following topics:
- Updated information regarding the possible Discretionary Block Grant
- Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) School Bus and Van Driver Extension for 2025-26

District Proposals Provided to SEIU: June 24, 2025
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) School Bus and Van Driver Extension for the 2025-26 School Year
- All school bus and van drivers All school bus and transportation van drivers whose current bid/lock-in/FTE is less than 8 hours/day (i.e., full-time) will be offered the opportunity to increase their current bid/lock-in/FTE to 8 hours/day through June 30, 2026, the last regularly-scheduled workday of the 2025-26 school year.
- All drivers who elect to increase their bid/lock-in/FTE as described in 1) above will be provided the rights, benefits and burdens offered to full-time SEIU bargaining unit members as defined in the SRVUSD-SEIU CBA, including District contributions to health and welfare benefits.
- The decision of each driver to increase her/his bid/lock-in/FTE as described in 1) above will be a voluntary commitment for the 2025-26 school year.
- Part-time drivers wishing to maintain their existing, part-time bid/lock-in/FTE will be permitted to do so.
- Drivers electing to increase their bid/lock-in/FTE as described in 1) above will be expected to perform, and will perform at the direction of the Director of Transportation or designee, supplemental work, including but not limited to what has traditionally been considered “utility work” and school site supervision, for the portion of their paid time that they are not transporting students during their regularly-assigned routes. The supplemental work will be at a salary range which does not exceed the range of the driver’s normal classification.
- Drivers electing to maintain their existing, part-time bid/lock-in/FTE (i.e., less than 8 hours/day) as described in 3) above will forego the option to perform utility work during the term of this side letter.
- For the duration of this MOU, Article XVI, Sections A., B., C.3, C.4, C.5, D.2, and Article XVII B., C.3, C.4, C.5, D.2 are hereby suspended.
SEIU Proposals Provided to the District: June 24, 2025
No proposals were provided to the District on June 24, 2025.
Tentative Agreements Reached on June 24, 2025
While no tentative agreements were reached during this session, the parties continue to work collaboratively on all outstanding matters.

The next negotiation session is scheduled for July 9, 2025.
