PACH Back to School Food Drive (end 8-25)

Watertown Radio is collecting donations for the Watertown PACH (People Against Childhood Hunger - pronounced Pack)  program.  Now through August 26th, you can drop off your donation in our lobby.  Some of the accepted donations include:

Peanut Butter

Canned Chicken Noodle Soup

Canned Tomato Soup

Canned Spaghetti & Meatballs

Canned Beef Ravioli

Canned Tuna or Chicken

Canned Corn or Green Beans

Cheese or Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers

Granola Bars

Pudding Cups (no instant)

4 oz Fruit Cups (not cans)

Single Serving boxes of raisins

Cash (bring cash into the office, please)

Blood Drive (End 8/18)
Community Blood Bank will hold a blood drive in Watertown on Thursday, August 18th.  Schedule your donation time at or call 605-331-3222.  All who donate will receive a Scooters Gift Card.

Singles in Agriculture (End 8/18)
Singles in Agriculture will be holding an event in Watertown August 18th.  Singles in Agriculture (SIA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing social and educational opportunities to single persons with a background or interest in agriculture.  For more information on the event, visit or contact Margo at 701-721-7444.

Watertown Regional Library (End 8/28)

Watertown Regional Library is one of 50 U.S. libraries selected to host Americans and the Holocaust, a traveling exhibition from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum through August 28th.  This exhibit examines the motives, pressures and fears that shaped Americans’ responses to Nazism, war, and genocide in Europe during the 1930s

and 1940s.

Watertown Yard of the Month (End 8/31)

Nominations are being taken for the Watertown Yard of the Month.  Five homes - one from each ward, one business, and one whimsical yard will be selected each month.  You can nominate an individual or business by filling out a form at the nomination watering cans located at County Fair Foods, HyVee, and the Watertown Regional Library.

Volunteers Jenkins Living Center Memory Unit

Volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis to help in the Jenkins Living Center Memory Unit with activities.  Call Char at 886-5270 or Janie at 886-1495 if you can help.

ICAP Weatherization
Would you like to save on your heating and cooling costs? Weatherization assistance may be an option for you.  Income guidelines apply.  Energy conservation measures may include insolation, caulking, window and door replacement, and heating system repair, and replacement.  For more information about weatherization assistance, contact Inter-Lake Community Action Partnership at 886-7674.

ICAP Frozen Meals

Interlakes Community Action 60’s Plus Dining Program offers frozen meal packs for seniors age 60 or older.   Meal packs include seven frozen meals with 10 options available, small loaf of bread, ½ gallon of milk and fruit juice.  These are quality, balanced, nutritious meals that are flash frozen in specialty sealed containers.  Packs are offered for a free will donation with a suggested amount of $27.  For more information visit

Watertown Green Yard Waste Containers

The City of Watertown has for sale the green 95 gallon yard waste containers used for disposal of yard waste such as grass, leaves, and garden vegetation.  Purchase your container for $55.38 at City Hall or at the Watertown Regional Landfill.

Watertown Sump Pump Variance
Any Watertown home or business that would like to operate a sump pump, discharging clear water into the sanitary sewer over the winter months, may request a temporary variance that runs from October 15th to March 15th. The time period may be shortened if necessary.  Temporary variances must be renewed each year. Discharges of clear water to the sanitary sewer without first obtaining a temporary variance is not permissible. Applications may be filled out at or by calling the Wastewater Treatment Facility at 882-6244.

Watertown Yard Compost
Each residence of the City of Watertown is entitled to two tons of free compost annually.  To claim your free compost, bring a recent Watertown Municipal Utility Bill to the Regional Landfill.  Residents who have reached their annual two-ton limit may purchase additional compost for $20 a ton.  For those who wish to purchase without a utility bill, compost is $20 per ton.  The

compost has been screened for debris and makes a great soil conditioner.
