Digital Content Producer

Seeking a creatively motivated feminist who thinks outside the box and is ready to throw themselves into an incredible side-hustle. This is an UNPAID position. We aspire to grow to a place where we have consistent revenue streams and can hire a team—one we’d love for you to be a part of! To get there, we need your help.

The Position

The Digital Content Producer at GIRLWITHABOOK Movement will be responsible for developing and executing a digital content strategy that is diverse in content, in terms of subject matter, platform, and media. This work will include content dissemination across a variety of social and web platforms, each of which requires individualized strategies and regular engagement and audience analysis. The producer will use this analysis to grow and strengthen GIRLWITHABOOK’s web following in accordance with our mission and values. Their goal is to grow GIRLWITHABOOK’s audience, increase engagement, and provoke thoughtful conversation through diverse, substantive content.

The Producer will have broad autonomy to develop their digital strategy, in cooperative consult with the GIRLWITHABOOK board of directors. Content should center around the experiences of women and may include girls’ education, global health, women’s rights, gender and sexual minority rights, feminism and its many manifestations globally. Content should explicitly lift up the experiences of women of color.

Character A successful Producer will place a high value on honesty and integrity and will conduct themselves personally and professionally with good faith intent. They will be comfortable taking responsibility for their actions and will actively seek personal and professional improvement in this position.

Work Ethic Successful candidates will be self starters with excellent time management skills. They will be able to self manage on projects. They will ask for help when needed, and will pride themselves on their ability to work independently and efficiently.

Communication Successful candidates must be comfortable asking for help and respectfully raising concerns within the team as needed. They will communicate openly and with good intentions.

About GIRLWITHABOOK Movement

GIRLWITHABOOK Movement is a nonprofit organization that uses innovative and interactive new media to promote girls’ education and women’s rights. Co-founders Lena Shareef and Olivia Curl founded GIRLWITHABOOK in response to the horrifying attack against Pakistani youth education activist Malala Yousafzai in October 2012. Since its founding, GIRLWITHABOOK has grown into an internationally recognized movement promoting the power of educated girls. In Spring 2015, GIRLWITHABOOK incorporated as a non-profit, bringing photojournalist Jennifer Ciochon onto its board of directors. In April 2015, GIRLWITHABOOK conducted a successful Kickstarter campaign raising over $40,000 to fund a multimedia documentary project in South and Central Asia. In February 2016 the GIRLWITHABOOK team returned from producing the documentary project and is now in post-production.

The Position

The Director of Operations will be responsible for the daily administrative, financial, legal, and contractual management of GIRLWITHABOOK Movement. They will develop and execute a business plan for GIRLWITHABOOK in accordance with our mission, vision, and values. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with organizational capacity assessment management experience looking to deepen their experience with nonprofits.
