NLICC WOMEN’S UPDATE 08.09.18
Focus for August: Seek Wisdom and Knowledge
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.”
“Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?”
2 Chronicles 1:10
QUESTION OF THE MONTH
When have you “asked in faith” for wisdom and heard God’s answer?
If you feel so led, please send your response to email@example.com. Your response may be brief or as long as you feel led to write. We look forward to hearing from you!
It’s Not Too Late: American Red Cross Blood Drive | Today, August 9 | 2:00-6:00 pm | NLICC
New Life In Christ Church is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive at the church today, August 9, from 2:00-6:00 pm. This is a tangible way to help our community as there is always an increased need for blood donations in the Summer. Please contact the church office (540-786-4848) to reserve a time (walk-ins welcome as well). There is also a need for a few volunteers to help with the drive - contact Sharon Worman or Jonathan Allison.

Children’s Sunday School Teaching Opportunities
Teaching Sunday School is a simple but powerful way to impact the lives of children for generations to come! Please see the insert from Sunday’s bulletin for SS teacher openings for the 2018-19 school year and prayerfully consider serving in this way. There will be 2 teaching teams per class, so each team will serve for a 13-week quarter and then have one quarter off. If you have questions, please contact Nate Henriksen.

Pioneer Girls Ministry Opportunities
Pioneer Girls is looking for a few good women (and maybe a young man!) on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00-5:30 pm beginning September 12. Sharon Leaman and Heather O'Hara are looking for a mentor in our Challengers group (7-12th grade) and supervisors for the leaders' boys and two year-old girl who play in the sanctuary (a possible opportunity for a young couple to serve together - at least one needs to be over age 18). We are also looking for women willing to be substitute volunteers when our leaders are ill or out of town.

Junior Worship Ministry Opportunities
Beginning September 2, we are in need of teachers for Junior Worship! Junior Worship is for 3-4 year olds and meets every week during the sermon portion of the Worship Service. We need 3 more teams of 2 adults to teach. The 45 minute time period is structured very simply with a Bible story (curriculum provided!), craft time (if you’d like), snack, prayer, and praise/singing. Usually we have 5-8 children attending. Teams rotate so that you teach approximately once every 5 weeks.

Titus 2 Signups | Sunday, August 12 | Foyer of NLICC
Titus 2 is an opportunity for women to build friendships and be encouraged in light of God's promises to us in Scripture. Small groups meet monthly to share a meal, learn together from God's Word, and pray for one another. Groups meet on various days and at various times and locations each month. We will be studying The Roots of Faith: Hebrews 11 by Karen Melnick. Please join us as we grow in faith together!
Signups for Titus 2 will be in the foyer this Sunday, August 12. Books will be available for sale at that time for $10. Proceeds of Karen's book will go to the purchase of water filtration systems for Christians living in the Gaza Strip and drinking contaminated water. Karen shared about the ministry at a previous evening service. Remaining spots for the Titus groups will be available online through the link provided in the Women’s Update on August 16. Questions? Please contact Gale Puffenberger.

Women's Fall Bible Study | Wednesdays, beginning September 12 | 9:30-11:30 am | Room 219
The Women’s Fall Bible Study will change to Wednesdays with childcare available beginning September 12th! We are thankful for the provision of two volunteers to man the nursery on Wednesdays so that our moms can now participate in weekly Bible Study. We will be studying the second half of Romans with video streaming of Dr. Michael Kruger's teaching from the RTS Charlotte's Women's Bible Study. Class will be in Room 219 from 9:30-11:30 am. Contact Heather if you will have children in the nursery or would like a copy of the notes available on the first day of class. The study will also be available for streaming to those at home who work or who miss a class, so everyone can participate!
