John Paul Gibson

April 25, 1987 - April 11, 2018

John Gibson, bringer of joy and merriment, Pittsburgh sports enthusiast, Rank 1 legendary warlock, friend, son, and husband, passed away on April 11, 2018 in Bloomington, Indiana. He will be forever remembered by his wife, Shawna (nee Jones); his mother, Geri (partner George); his father, Stanley (wife Michele); brother, Stan (partner Keelan); and boundless tomes of loved ones and friends.

Born April 25, 1987 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, John’s soul was painted black and yellow, with championship rings and Stanley cups dancing in his heart. His passion and pure, unbridled enthusiasm didn’t end with sports. He strode fearlessly into the world, both the physical one and digital ones, where his huge heart and larger than life personality made it impossible to not love him.

He was loving and kind, compassionate and thoughtful. His spirit touched the hearts of everyone he met. His passing has left an untold number of spirits shattered and lives forever changed. He looked for the best in people, and fiercely protected those he loved. His generosity, charisma, and unadulterated love for everyone and everything he cared about made him someone others strove to emulate. John Gibson was the best of us, and the world is a colder, darker place without his warm laughter and jovial spirit in it.

Join us on Monday, April 16th, 2018 at the Arlington United Methodist Church in Bloomington, Indiana, to share in food, friends, and stories. Viewing will start at 6:00 p.m., with a funeral service following at 7:30 p.m. officiated by Reverend Jim Roach, pastor of AUMC. Let us honor him with laughter, love, and some teasing.

Oh, and LET’S GO PENS!

John was so good and kind. Even Shawna's grandmother loved him.  30 years is too short.  I love how much he loved my Shawna!  Trying to be kind and pass on his kind of joy to everyone is something I will TRY to do in his honor...   Peace

"John was my manager and also sat next to me. Together, in a crazy work environment, we created ""Peace Island"". John was fair, knowledgeable and funny! He was one of the greatest people I've ever met... And I was so shocked and sorry that he left this world way too soon! The wood is indeed a darker place without his Light in it... But I know that he will shine on in the higher realms... And somewhere, he's taking a vacation on a real Peace Island!!! You'll be missed always, John!"

Safe travels, brother, you will be forever remembered. "We da Crew"

He and I had many a conversation about this world and others as we waited (and waited) for calls, Harassing Jamie as much as we could. "Luminous Beings are We, Not This Crude Matter" See you at the next waystation, Compadre!

John and I worked together at Marketing Support Network in Bridgeville and he was a great guy.  I am so sorry for your loss.

I worked with him, and his sense of humor, ability to take a joke, and his love for the people that he worked with was well known. He will be missed. My deepest condolences.
