Dear Turtle Families!

To help celebrate our upcoming vacation the Turtle class will be having a PJ to school day Wednesday, 4/13 and Thursday, 4/14. The Children’s Way will be closed Friday,4/15 and the following week.

Turtles blasted off into Space for most of March. They were extremely curious about outer space and loved our space station and dancing to solar system songs. We watercolor the Earth, decorated astronaut helmets, and practiced writing space themed words.  Turtles counted beads to create shooting stars, squished space slime, and completed space floor puzzles.

Recently we have been exploring the wonderful world of books! We have  focused many activities around letters highlighting uppercase and lowercase letters. Turtles built letters out of legos, magnet tiles and pattern blocks. They completed alphabet puzzles, watercolor  letters, and created their own books. Through FUNdations, we are learning letter sounds as well as practicing writing or tracing letters on lined paper using skyline, plane line, grass line and dirt line as reference.

Our class will continue our book study by reading Fill A Bucket  by Carol McCloud.  We will practice finding ways to fill each other’s bucket as well as learning ways to fill our own buckets. After vacation Turtles will have Children's Choice as our theme as we discover ways to be kind to others and to ourselves.

Today, a former Teacher of Ali’s, Deb Farmer Kris, came to read her books I Love You All the Time and You Have Feelings All the Time.

Best,

Linda, Carol and Ali
