Anthony’s Diary of being Stuck in a Cave.
Day 1: That was fun at soccer today, I told the guys that I wanted to go down to the cave today and explore it for my birthday. While we were down in the cave we decided to play hide and seek. It was getting late so we went to go home, OH NO! The cave is flooded! That’s right, it's monsoon season!
Day 2: It’s really cold down here, and I really hope that my Mum and Dad will find where we are! I should’ve told them that we were going to the cave after practice. I don’t think I ever want to be in a cave again, I’ve missed my birthday!
Day 3: Me and my friends were getting really hungry, we should have brought our bags down with us. I’m pretty thirsty too.
Day 4: We need a rescue team to save us! We all started stacking rocks to make the little island we are stuck on a bit higher because the water was getting higher. The coach collected clean water that was dripping slowly through the cracks in the ceiling.
Day 5: We are going to die one by one, what are we going to do? We only have these cheap flashlights with us and the batteries are not going to last too much longer.
Day 6: We have to think of something to do. We played rock paper scissors to keep us entertained. The meditation is helping curb the hunger but it is the cold that is really starting to get to me.
Day 7: The rescue team arrived! Just in time because one of us was nearly starving to death, they gave us a liquid that tasted like heaven in a bottle, it looked like water but it was so much better.
Day 8: We got wetsuits today, we put them on and hoped in the water, it was so cold! The wetsuit helped a bit but I’m glad to be out of the water again. Still no proper food, the rescuers said our stomachs wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Day 9: The diver helped us use a full face mask in the water. We didn't go too deep after we got used to it.
Day 10: Four of us got to go through the cave with the divers but some of us had to stay. They had to put us to sleep with anaesthetic so we don’t panic. We decided the younger boys should go first, I will be in the last group.
Day 11: Four more boys left today, I miss them but I am also very excited to see my family tomorrow! The rescuers told us that there is more rain coming soon, so they have to hurry to get us out. It will still take a lot of time to get out though, so many twists and turns, underwater and over rocky climbs.
Day 12: Finally my turn to get out!! I can’t wait, I’m sure I won’t know what is going on. OMG!! I’m out, with my Mum and Dad, I’m so happy but we now have to go to the hospital and stay there for two weeks to make sure we didn’t catch anything while in the cave. I’m so happy to be outside, but it is very bright, I have to wear sunglasses.
