Literacy SMARTIE Goals

School Literacy Goal (This represents the overall student achievement of an underserved focus group(s). Achieving this goal will be essential in order to accomplish the District goal for all students, and address the root cause of inequity at the school level):

 

  • By June 2025, at least 58% of Hispanic & African American/Black Students students will meet the literacy benchmark on DIBELS with a composite score at or above benchmark.

  • By June 2025, at least 32% of all Emerging Multi-Lingual (EML) students will make one year’s growth in their composite score on the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs.

  • By June 2025, all students will increase their individual score in the Vocabulary Acquisition strand on MAP-R by 5 points.  Incremental progress will be measured using standards-based writing rubrics throughout writing units.

Math SMARTIE Goals

School Math Goal (This represents the overall student achievement of an underserved focus group(s). Achieving this goal will be essential in order to accomplish the District goal for all students, and address the root cause of inequity at the school level):

  • By June 2025, at least 55% of African American/Black students will meet proficiency on MAP-M by achieving an assigned score within the yellow or green color bands (from 50%-55%).

  • By June 2025, at least 35% of Hispanic/Latinae students will meet proficiency on MAP-M by achieving an assigned score within the yellow or green color bands (from 29.9%-35%).

Culture/Climate SMARTIE Goals

  • FY25 Student Goal: By June 2025, we will reduce the number of students who do not feel comfortable asking their teachers questions about their schoolwork by 5%,  (Hispanic/Latinae: from 29.7% to 24.7% and Black/African American: from 33.3% to 28.3%).

  • Staff Goal: By June 2025, to support the Scholar Goal, staff will participate in professional development on providing feedback and building relationships.

Well-Being SMARTIE Goals

  • FY25 Student Goal: By the end of the 2024-2025 school year, we will reduce chronic absenteeism by 5% of our Hispanic/Latinae students (from 25% to 20%) and Black/African American students (from 11% to 9%).

  • Staff Goal: By June 2025, to decrease chronic absenteeism by 5%, teachers continue to build a culture of care by calling families to share good news and learn the reasons for absenteeism, This will help increase students’ sense of belonging, reduce stress in school, and develop students’ ability to trust adults at school.  The Student Well Being Team will mail letters, make phone calls, conduct home visits,  and use varied communication methods to follow up with families of students that are showing 10% or more absences.
