Student Dress Code
- Student dress should be compatible with an educational setting rather than an off campus setting.
- Students may express individuality in their dress and grooming as long as their appearance does not cause or have the potential to cause disruption in the educational process of themselves, other students or staff.
In an effort to maintain a safe and academic focus we ask that students attending Lockwood adhere to the following guidelines:

Hats and hoods are not allowed indoors, but may be
worn outside so long as they are not a distraction.
Make-up, cosmetics, and personal care
items are not appropriate when worn or
brought to school.
Shoes need to be appropriate for P.E. and outdoor
activities. Students should not wear flip-flops or high
heels for safety reasons.
Classroom expectations set by individual teachers shall be followed for the learning environment.
The Lockwood administration and staff appreciate the cooperation of students and parents in reviewing the students’ dress to meet established guidelines. If a student’s dress or appearance is such that it constitutes a threat to the health or safety of others, is not suitable to the norms of an educational setting, or otherwise violates this dress code, the principal or the principal’s designee may require the student to change his or her dress. A second or repeated violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action in accordance with school policy and procedures. Thanks to Kenmore Middle School for sharing this document with us. Slight clarifications made to this document are noted within the rectangular text boxes

P - Persevere (Eliminate distractions, never stop trying.)
A - Act Responsibly (Know the rules, do the right thing.)
W - Work Together (Show respect, protect each other.)
S - Stay Safe (Follow the rules, all the time.)
Our Leopard community utilizes a tiered approach when addressing student conduct that teaches positive behavior, and allows students to learn from their mistakes.
Level I: Minor concerns are handled on the spot (in the classroom, on the playground, or other areas of the school). Staff will assist students in understanding the expected behavior and reinforce students' abilities to make responsible choices through positive reinforcement.
Level II: This includes chronic Level I concerns or more major offenses that cannot be adequately handled by the classroom discipline plan. Staff will clearly define the expected behavior and provide an opportunity for students to learn from their mistakes with appropriate consequences for their behavior. Principal support may be needed.
Level III: This level includes repeated major offenses, severe disrespect, and dangerous or illegal behavior. The principal will always intervene at this level. Consequences may include in-school or out-of-school suspension and/or other methods that address the seriousness of the offense. Parents will always be called at this level.
