Minutes of September 9, 2021
Present: Rick Lavallee, Eilleen Hamlin, Susan Bartholomew, Carlleen Taylor, Lorraine Hefner, Sandi Deland, Lynn Surprenant.
Meeting was called to order at 7:40 PM.
Secretary's report was disbursed and reviewed, with a motion to accept presented by Eilleen and a second from Carlleen.
Treasurer's report was tabled for the next meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
Parking lot: Sue reported that she heard our parking lot will be done after the paving at the school is completed.
Back Library Door: Mike Hagemen said the door needs to be re-shimmed to have it properly latch. Rick will talk with David and check it out, and he will follow up with Mike.
NEW BUSINESS:
Yoga: Ash Fletcher wants to have a 10 week yoga class at the library starting Tuesday, September 14th. MidYork has not given any new guidelines, so it was decided that subject to further review, the guidelines would be: mask requirements, stay 6' apart, have participants sign in for contact tracing. If class is held outdoors, no masks are required. This is subject to change.
Library lights (Non-Fiction area): The lights are not working properly, so they are not being used. Rick contacted John Amicucci to look at them, but John is unavailable due to a current job. It was discussed that until the repairs can be made, we can use the string of LED construction lights that were used for the downstairs area during the front step repair.
Cozy Corner: A patron of another library had a leather chair and ottoman available for donation and our library was the fortunate recipient of the donation. It is in a corner in the back. Eilleen has been looking into tables for underneath the light near the chair, to avoid anyone hitting their head on the light. She will take measurements and report back if she finds something that works in the space.
Use of ice melt on front steps: Rick spoke with Scott Lupini for advice on this. Scott recommends a non chloride based de-icer. If it's snowing out, someone will go out frequently to clear the snow, eliminating the need to put chemicals on the steps.
Book quarantine: We were updated that the books and materials are no longer subject to a quarantine, but all are still being sanitized.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM. Lynn made a motion and Carlleen gave a second.
There will be no meeting in October due to MidYork's annual meeting in October. The next meeting is Thursday, November 11th, 2021.
