FAQs for the Class of 2020
What is happening with Graduation and other Senior events?
Our Senior Awards Ceremony will be streamed on Thursday, June 4 at 7pm. Diplomas will be distributed on June 8,9, and 10 at Rolesville High School; students may wear their cap/gown; more information can be found in Mrs. Lassiter’s weekly message (https://www.wcpss.net/Domain/10540). The Virtual Graduation Ceremony will be streamed on Thursday, June 11 at 12pm.
What about Senior Fees?
Senior fees can be paid online. Go to the RHS website → Parents → Online Payments. It is important for all Seniors to pay their Senior fees, as we have expenses from cap/gown pick up and diploma distribution that senior fees help cover.
When can I get my announcements, cap and gown, yearbook, and other items?
Announcements are being mailed to houses by Jostens. We will be distributing Senior yard signs (for ALL Seniors), cap and gowns, honor stoles, and yearbooks (for all grade levels) on June 1 and 2 from 9am and 2pm.
How do I return uniforms, textbooks, costumes, etc.?
Coaches should have communicated uniform return times with athletes. All other items can be returned on June 1 and 2 from 9am-2pm.
We are working through a process to refund money for prom, field trips, and parking. We are waiting for guidance from WCPSS to know when and how this will happen.
How can I request a copy of my transcript?
Students should click on the “Transcript Request” link under the “Student Links” on the bottom right hand side of the RHS website. This information can also be found at https://www.wcpss.net/Domain/2348. Seniors cannot get a copy of their FINAL transcript until after their Graduation date.
What should I do if I still had money in my school lunch account?
Students with money on their lunch accounts can get a refund by contacting the cafeteria’s main office at (919) 856.2920. Refunds will be issued by check in the mail.
Will I be recognized for Perfect Attendance?
If you have been a WCPSS student from Kindergarten through 12th grade and have had perfect attendance every single year, please email Mrs. Nilles at email@example.com.
How are Seniors being graded?
Seniors who were passing as of March 13 will receive a “P” for the semester. This will stand for the rest of the current school year. We still strongly encourage seniors to engage in remote learning, as we do not know whether schools will reopen May 18.
Do seniors need to participate in 4th quarter material for their spring semester courses?
Seniors who are not presently passing their courses needed for graduation are required to participate in order to complete graduation requirements. Seniors who are passing their courses are encouraged to engage in 4th quarter material for their courses.
How should seniors handle courses that are being taken online (ex - Wake Tech, CCP, NCVPS)?
For courses taken through Wake Technical Community College that are now online and/or NCVPS, students should see information from those organizations for grading details.
How do I know if I am currently passing the course?
Students should first check PowerSchool; if students are unable to check PowerSchool, they should email their teacher if they have questions about what their current grade is in the course. Students who are not able to email can call the school and their call will be returned.
What if I have to get a job to help support my family?
We encourage you to communicate with your teacher so they can help provide flexible support around your schedule. The focus during online learning is to provide opportunities for engagement and feedback.
How does this impact Senior Exam Exemptions?
While we have not yet determined if teacher-made exams will be administered this spring, we have determined that seniors are universally exempt from all exams. Seniors may request to participate in exams if it helps them in meeting a graduation requirement.
If a senior wants to improve their GPA through spring semester courses, is there an option to do this?
Unfortunately, no. NCDPI guidance has indicated that seniors will receive either “PC19” (Pass) or “WC19” (Withdraw) as final grades.
How will Senior Honors be determined?
Senior honors will be determined based on cumulative grades through the end of the Fall 2019 semester.
Have graduation requirements changed?

For students graduating in Spring 2020, the CPR requirement for graduation has been waived by the state.
