CAASPP Testing/ Intervention

Juniors are CAASPP testing which leaves freshmen, sophomores, and seniors with extra study time.

For the past two weeks on Tuesday and Wednesday while juniors are testing, students took advantage of the long 90 minute intervention time.

There were many teachers that opened their classroom to students for various reasons during the intervention.

AP Government/ Economics and Government/ Economics teacher Isenberg opened his classroom to AP Gov’t/ Econ students for extra practice and preparation for AP exams.

“We are just going to do AP review games to better prepare students who want to do well on the AP exam,” Isenberg said. “By practicing and seeing questions and seeing terms and interacting with the material, they will hopefully do better on the exam.”

Mathematics teacher Chistopher Wardlaw also opened his classroom to AP students for AP test preparation and possible music APpreciation.

“I am offering for my AP Stats students to come in for extra time for seniors to work on some multiple choice and free response questions,” Wardlaw said. “I wanted to do classical music appreciation and have kids come in to learn how to listen to classical music.

Mathematics teacher Tiffany Boling offered her intervention to students for Math 1 support and math study hall time.

“I'm offering a study hall set up if they need it or they can retake a test or a quiz. Just a place where they can get individualized attention,” Boling said. “A few students needed some time to make up some tests so the intervention really helped with that.”

Curriculum support teacher Jon Wallace offered E sports for students to challenge each other for fun during the intervention time.

“Some friendly competition and some bonding,” Wallace said. “Kids who have never been here feel comfortable here with the games and it's just a break from the stress.”

The AP test is in about a month so the intervention period is the perfect time for AP students to get the help they need from their teachers.

“The AP test is only so far away and the best way to study for an AP test is to get used to the format like test questions, looking for trick questions,” said Isenberg. “Get tricked now instead of on the AP test.”
