Why fireworks should not be sold to the public

Introduction:

I had just kissed mum and dad goodnight, and was just about in a deep sleep when…….. BANG! POP! BOOM! Someone down the street was letting off their fireworks. It was two whole weeks after guy fawkes night had been, I thought, this has got to stop.

There are many reasons why I feel fireworks shouldn´t be sold to the public. Today, I would like to cover some of the main points with you, in the hopes that you will agree with me.

First of all, Animals. They don't get a say in people letting off fireworks at whatever time they want to, and how scared they are of them. so I will say it for them.

Unlike you, your pets and the other animals don't actually know what fireworks are. So whilst you are having a great time letting them off with your family, the animals are getting really scared, and might even decide to escape from their home and run away. Imagine that! But... if the fireworks were only used at the public events, such as guy fawkes, the pet owners would know the exact time and date it was happening, so everyone would have time to get their pets sorted and inside for the event.

The second point that I would like to make is about the dangers and injuries that happen. In the past year there have been more than 4000 accidents caused by fireworks. That is 40,000 accidents in a decade. And would you believe, the cost to fix these injuries was over $3 million dollars. Imagine if somebody needed an ambulance, but it couldn't get to them, because they were at my house dealing with my finger I had burnt, while playing with a firework. The risk of injury at public events is almost zero. They are run by trained professionals and they have all the right safety equipment to do it safely and correctly.

As well as these two main reasons, there are also the risk of fires, the rubbish and mess that gets left behind, and the money that you waste on fireworks that actually arent even that good!

Public displays don't pose a fire risk, they are completely cleaned up and don't leave a mess afterwards, and the biggest reason of all - that you are better off going to a public display than doing it yourself. THEY ARE AWESOME!! They are so much bigger, louder, sparklier and enjoyable than the home ones.

So in conclusion, i hope that the reasons i have pointed out in this speech, will make you think about why fireworks should not be sold to the public, and why Public events are a much better option for everyone.

Thank You
