Seaford Wetlands Community Garden
Membership Policy
Seaford Wetlands Community Garden (SWCG) was established to provide a local place that can be enjoyed by all members of the community. It aims to provide an education in organic gardening, promote grass-roots sustainability action and to be a meeting place in Seaford and surrounds. The SWCG is managed by Mid Coast Sustainability (MCS) Inc., a community association steered by a committee of local volunteers from the Seaford area.
We encourage all users of SWCG to:
- support the aims of SWCG and use your skills and knowledge to further that mission
- support the MCS Committee, who manage the SWCG, and uphold their decisions
- be accountable for your actions
- work considerately and respectfully with all those who you meet via the garden
- contribute to maintaining SWCG through attendance at community working bees
- help where you can to maintain shared areas and equipment
- keep the SWCG clean and safe for use by others
- aim to leave the space a little better than you found it each time you come
- respect SWCG’s neighbours by minimising noise, odour and other disturbance
- follow the car parking guidelines to avoid overcrowding nearby residential streets.
Becoming a member of MCS and/or using the SWCG comes with a few responsibilities. Members or users not adhering to the below rules may be asked to leave the SWCG and/or have their membership revoked, in accordance with the association's constitution. These responsibilities are:
- please respect and adhere to SWCG’s organisational policies, including its constitution, risk management and safety procedures, equal opportunity and childsafe policies. These documents are available on our website here https://www.seafordwetlandscommunitygarden.com/
- please respect other people's rented garden plots and don't remove produce or interfere with them in any way
- Please plant and maintain the communal garden areas in line with the SWCG masterplan and management vision. This masterplan and vision is shaped by members and managed by the current committee.
- you must use only organic fertilisers (e.g. compost), natural pesticides and garden additives, relying on organic methods of growing and garden management.
- you must not drink alcohol, smoke or be under the influence of drugs
- you must not make loud noise between 8am and 8pm that could disturb our valued neighbours
- physical, mental or verbal abuse have no place in this garden and will not be tolerated
- you must not make racist, sexist or other discriminatory comments.
We aim to maintain a safe, happy and healthy space for all our community to use. Be friendly to each other, be safe and supportive, and we hope you enjoy our unique community space and all it has to offer.
