Kia ora Musselburgh Whānau,

In this newsletter:

Home And School Association

The Home and School Association met on Monday to discuss fundraisers for next term. The next meeting is on Monday 2nd August at 3.15pm in the staff room - all are welcome.

Onesie / PJs Day - the last day of term 2 (tomorrow) will be a fundraiser for the food bank - either a gold coin donation or canned food / non-perishable food item please - everyone can wear onesies or PJs at school for the day!

Reporting and Parent Interviews

A mid-term progress report has been posted for your child (Totara parents have a message on Seesaw about this) and parent interviews are being held on Tuesday and Wednesday of week 2, term 3. Information will be sent out at the beginning of term 3 for you to organise an interview time.

Teacher Only Day

A teacher only day has been arranged for Wednesday 25th August. This is to enable Professional Development for our entire staff team. School will be closed for instruction on this day.

Staffing

It’s with sadness that we say goodbye to Jess McMillan after 18 months at Musselburgh. Jess is an excellent teacher and colleague and we will miss her expertise, creativity and skill around the school. Jess is returning to Gisbourne with her partner and we wish them both well with their next venture.

Swimming

In term 3 we will be taking swimming lessons for the whole school on Fridays. Students are transported by bus and have a 30 minute session in the wave pool and a 30 minute swimming lesson. There is no cost to parents for these lessons. We do, however, need parents to help supervise the students in order for these lessons to go ahead, including some adults willing to be in the water. If you are able to help please let your child’s teacher know through Seesaw, or email. Session times are as follows:

9.30am - 10.30am - Ti Kouka and Rimu

11am - 12pm - Ngaio and Totara

12pm - 1pm - Harakeke, Rata and Pohutukawa

These are the times when the students are in the pool. The transport by bus will leave school 30 minutes before the session time.
