Withdrawal FAQ
What is a withdrawal?
The withdrawal (W) process is designed to give students the option to discontinue a course without earning an unsatisfactory grade. When a student withdraws, a grade of withdrawn (W) will be assigned for the course and appear on the student’s transcript. Students do not earn any college credit for W grades, but the W grade does not affect the GPA calculation since no grade points are assigned.
Who should withdraw?
Students who cannot complete a College Credit course after the drop deadline should request to withdraw from the class by the withdrawal deadline. Additionally, any student who would prefer a withdrawn (W) grade to the grade they anticipate earning in their course, should request to withdraw by the withdrawal deadline. However, students in this position should consider that no credit is awarded for W grades.
