Rehearsals:

We will hold rehearsals at [Insert Venue]. As noted in the calendar, we will rehearse from [Insert Times] There will be sporadic breaks as we progress through the show. Actors should come prepared with their script, pencil, water bottle and lunch. It is important that actors arrive 10 minutes early so that we are able to start rehearsal on time and are picked up promptly at the end of rehearsal. We will hold a parent meeting after our first rehearsal to share more information and answer any questions.

Casting:

Auditions will be held on [Insert Dates] by appointment from [Insert Times]. You can choose an audition slot through sign-up genius. Please be sure to include any and all conflicts on the conflict sheet. Having conflicts will not necessarily keep you from being cast. We will do our best to work with you. We will be casting this show competitively and will contact all who audition by email and/or phone by [Insert Date] on our decisions. We will post an official cast list to social media once all roles are accepted. All actors will be required to sign an actors contract with reference to our production expectations. Parents will need to sign as well acknowledging these expectations. See the actor's contract for more details.

***Those unable to attend in person may submit a video audition before [Insert Date] to be considered for a role. Please email your audition & forms to [Insert Company Email]

Characters & Descriptions

[Insert characters from your show]

Cady Heron

Arrives at North Shore High a clueless transfer student but is quickly wrapped up in brutal social politics. Though at her core Cady is levelheaded, self-assured, and kind, when she goes undercover with the Plastics, she becomes unrecognizable.

Gender: Female        Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: G2

Damian

Co-chair of the Student Activities Committee and Janis’s best friend. Damian is smart, witty, and confident and occasionally serves as the show’s narrator.

Gender: Male                Vocal range top: G5 Vocal range bottom: Bb3

Janis Sarkisian

Marches to the beat of her own drum and, with Damian, narrates throughout the show. After a falling-out with Regina in middle school, she became a bit of a social outcast and still holds a grudge against Regina. Damian is her best friend and lovingly refers to her as his “art freak.”

Gender: Female        Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: A3

Regina George

The undisputed Queen Bee of North Shore High School, and she knows it. She’s confident, clever, and completely unbothered by anyone else’s opinion. While Regina purposefully manipulates everyone around her (including her own mom), at her heart, she’s trying to fit in, just like everyone else.

Gender: Female        Vocal range top: Eb5 Vocal range bottom: Ab3

Gretchen Wieners

Regina’s stressed-out second-in-command. As much as Regina appears not to care what people think, Gretchen cares very much, and she’s especially paranoid when it comes to Regina. She takes the Plastics very seriously and is completely controlled by Regina, until Cady comes along.

Gender: Female        Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: G2

Karen Smith

The third member of the Plastics. While Karen’s lack of intelligence is a running joke throughout the show, she sees the other girls more clearly than most people and is the most laid back of the three.

Gender: Female         Vocal range top: D#5 Vocal range bottom: G2

Aaron Samuels

A nice guy who has no idea that he’s the high school heartthrob. Although he doesn’t enjoy the drama of high school social politics, he gets used as a pawn between Cady and Regina, though he genuinely likes Cady.

Gender: Male                Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: B3

Mrs. Heron and Mr. Heron

Cady's parents.

Mr. Duvall

The school principal. Like Ms. Norbury, he’s seen it all, although he’s slightly more formal and sincere than Ms. Norbury’s sarcasm.

Gender: Male

Ms. Norbury

Cady’s homeroom and calculus teacher, and she oversees the Mathletes. Though she is a bit jaded and more than a little sarcastic, Ms. Norbury sees the real Cady and encourages her to be true to herself.

Gender: Female

Shane Oman

A couple of spoken lines but much discussed in the show's plot.

Gender: Male

Kevin G

Captain of the Mathletes! He’s confident and excited about competing with the team, and he’s proud of their accomplishments.

Gender: Male

Martin

Kevin G's second in command.

Gender: Male

Mrs. George

Desperate to be a "cool mom".

Gender: Female

Coach Carr

Athletic coach.

Gender: Male  (also in the Ensemble)

Speaking Roles/Ensemble: Taylor, Caitlyn, Rachel, Caroline Krafft, Tony, Marymount Captain, Teary Girl, Mathletes Moderator, Sonja Acquino, Glenn Coco, Dawn, Grace, Lizzie, Sophie, Jason, Party Guests, the Debate Team, Dance Team, Show Choir, Mathletes, and Students

[Company]  Musical Theatre Actors Agreement Contract – [Insert Show Title]

I understand that it is a privilege, not a right or guarantee, to be in [Insert Show Title] with [Insert Company Name]. I will use this experience of being a part of this one time ensemble as a learning experience. The terms of this agreement are what my directors expect from all the actors involved in this show in order for it to be a positive learning experience. Please read the following carefully, then sign. Thanks!!

1. I will attend ALL rehearsals that I am called to be at. If I have constant unexcused absences I will be removed from the production. I will accept consequences for my actions that the directors feel are necessary. I understand others are depending on me and I will make smart choices during the production process. Only conflicts on my audition form, or discussed with one of the directors will be excused.

2. I am prepared to analyze my character in depth and portray a complete character onstage. I will hand in a character bio for the program and it will be finished and turned in ON TIME and according to ALL OF THE GUIDELINES that are given to me when that time comes.

3. I will bring my script and a pencil to EVERY rehearsal (even final dress rehearsals). I will write notes, given to me by the directors regarding my performance during rehearsals on the last two pages of my libretto or in a separate journal that I will ALWAYS have with me at rehearsals. I will notate blocking in the margin during blocking rehearsals.

4. I will create a show journal for this show and this show ONLY. This can be a normal sized spiral notebook or a diary/journal style notebook. I will write down ideas that I have for the show, ideas towards the production process, any notes that I am given by any member of the leadership team, and anything else applicable to this show in my journal. I will bring my journal to school each and every day.

5. I will make this show and its deadlines a priority. I will know my lines by the OFF BOOK dates listed on the calendar. I will not hold up the success of this show just because I did not make it a priority. I understand that we are all involved and all have other things to do as well. Also, I have a responsibility to the playwright. I will speak the words of the playwrights AS WRITTEN or else I will pay the fee as deemed necessary by the theatrical rights production company.

6. I agree to make no major appearances changes during the production process without speaking with one of the directors about it first. (ex. Hair color, tattoos, extreme haircuts, etc)

7. I will RESPECT ALL involved in this process. We are a family, we must work together. I will listen to my directors, my stage manager, and tech crew, during EVERY rehearsal. I will be respectful, engaged, kind, supportive, and honest even outside of rehearsal time.

8. I will be in character at all times in rehearsal. I will NOT goof off onstage or offstage. In other words, I will use rehearsal time FOR REHEARSAL. I will be quiet backstage.

9. I will leave personal problems outside rehearsals, AS BEST AS I CAN.

10. I will show my characterization in rehearsals. I will not save it for the performances. The sooner directors see what my ideas are for the role, the sooner they can ‘fine tune’ my interpretation which will help my fellow actor’s polish their performances sooner. The earlier you make your character choices the better.

11. I will be mentally and physically prepared before the call time, so I am ON TIME to all rehearsals and show calls. If the director in charge is not present or available, then I will start warm-ups on time, look over notes, cue lines...I WILL BE PRODUCTIVE. I will wear comfy clothes to rehearse numbers with the choreographer!

12. I will check in with whoever is doing attendance (either a director or a stage manager). I know I cannot miss a rehearsal unless it was listed on my conflict sheet prior to auditions and is deemed an approved excuse. Approved excuses include sickness, death in the family, conflicts listed on the original audition application, religious observances, and things that I have already approved with [Director Name(s)] A parent phone call/text message or email using the Remind App or [Company Email] should always be made if you unexpectedly cannot attend a rehearsal!

(The sooner we know the better!!)

13. I will pay attention to the rehearsal schedule and when things are due. I AM RESPONSIBLE for myself...not my cast members, not my directors, not my parents. If something is due then I will take care of it myself!

14. I WILL NEVER WEAR SOCKS-ONLY, GO BAREFOOT, OR WEAR FLIP FLOPS AT A REHEARSAL! This is a safety issue.

15. I understand how difficult it is to cast a show for the directors who take in all sorts of factors when piecing a cast together. If I drop this show for any reason, I may not be eligible for future lead roles with [Company Name]. I understand that it is extremely unprofessional to drop a role after accepting it and it is EXTREMELY bad form to complain about who received roles that I may have wanted. There are no small parts, only small actors, and I realize how fortunate I am to have been cast at all in this production. I will do my best to make this show a successful process from day one.

16. I will use this process to learn to accept criticism with grace and gratitude. I will write down comments of the directing team during notes and if I have a question, I will wait to speak with the directors AFTER rehearsal. I understand that defending my choices during notes is bad form.

17. I will be a valued part of the family. I will represent the tradition of excellence, of fun, of togetherness, and of community that has been built before me and will continue after me.

18. I will use common courtesy when thinking about Social Media usage. I will not post things that are detrimental to myself, my peers, the adults, or the process. I will think twice before posting once. If social media sites are used inappropriately, a suspension from rehearsals, events, and or performances will be the first step. Step two will be a full-removal from the production. Step two can be jumped to, depending on the severity of the offense.

19. I will turn my phone into the leadership team when asked to do so during rehearsals.

20. Rehearsals are a closed process to anyone not in the cast/crew unless requested/previously approved by Mrs. Brittanni and Mrs. Erin. Visitors lead to less focus & more stress. (This includes, but is not limited to, parents, siblings, friends, family, etc.)

I WILL KEEP THIS AGREEMENT FOR MY OWN USE. I WILL RETURN THE SIGNED LAST PAGE TO THE DIRECTING TEAM.

Actor Contract - I have read the Actor’s Agreement form for [Company Name] production of [Show Title] I understand each of the 20 points on the agreement and I will discipline myself to follow this agreement to the letter. I understand if all actors cast in the show follow these rules then our production will be run professionally. I also understand if I do not follow these rules I can and will be replaced. I know that being a part of this show is a privilege, not a right. I am here to learn and to be a part of the [Company Name] musical theatre family.

I hereby agree to the terms of this agreement.
