7th Grade Weekly Overview!

January 29-February 2, 2024

Course

Teacher

Here is what’s happening this week!

ELA

Caroline Scerbin

EQ: Why do I see and understand things the way that I do?

This week we read, “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street,” as a reader’s theater in class. It is a screenplay for a Twilight Zone Episode that first aired in 1960. We watched the video (yes, black & white!) in class and talked about the differences.

The essential question that guided us this week was: Why to people follow what others do?

We are then going to practice our CER writing with a choice of themes from “Monsters,” and then follow-up next with some comparison readings (poetry, articles) and then another FISHBOWL!

This unit explores how we perceive and interpret the information around us. We will be examining what being media literate means, and how to think critically about what we see and read online and on social media.
