POSITION DESCRIPTION
The NASPA Graduate Associate Program (GAP) is a group of graduate students who are selected to provide leadership and outreach to their institution regarding all things NASPA. GAPs are tasked with increasing awareness and involvement within NASPA by providing updated information about programs, events, and resources to their fellow graduate students and other individuals interested in learning more about NASPA. GAPs serve as ambassadors for NASPA while also providing NASPA with the graduate student experience and perspective. GAPs also have the opportunity each year to apply to be an intern at NASPA's Annual Conference. The 2025 NASPA Annual Conference will be held in New Orleans, LA from March 15th-19th, 2025.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Duration of role: September 15th, 2024 through June 30, 2025
- Participate in a minimum of five (5) monthly two hour Zoom conference calls with the larger GAP cohort of graduate students. GAP Meetings will typically take place on the first Friday of each month from 5pm-7pm EST. The first GAP Meeting will be on Friday, September 20th.
- Serve as the primary contact in your Graduate Program for peers seeking information about getting involved with NASPA Provide NASPA with feedback on what programs and services students need from NASPA
- Promote NASPA at upcoming events and publicize NASPA events on-campus
- Actively participate during October's Careers in Student Affairs Month (attending webinars, sharing information with cohort, engaging during instagram takeovers, etc.)
- Coordinate a minimum of three (3) outreach efforts throughout the academic year (virtual or in person events, blogs, social media takeovers or lives etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Applicants must be an incoming or current graduate student pursuing a masters degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling, or related field.
- Applicants must have an active NASPA Individual Membership by the start of the program on September 15th. If NASPA Membership lapses during the program the applicant must renew their Membership during the term or risk losing eligibility for the program. - Accepted students will be recognized on the NASPA Website and receive the opportunity to apply to be an Annual Conference Intern in New Orleans, LA for the 2025 NASPA Annual Conference. Eligibility for 2025 Annual Conference Internships are contingent upon successful completion of program requirements.
