FSRC Transgender and Transsexual Athletes Policy

Approved by FSRC Executive Board May 19, 2021

FSRC follows the guidelines outlined in the USATF statement regarding Transgender and Transsexual Policy, as recommended by the RRCA.  Athletes may self-identify gender based on medical benchmarks as defined by International Olympic Committee's (IOC) policy regarding competition by transgender athletes and transsexual athletes.  The USATF policy further states that "In the spirit of popular engagement, USATF encourages race directors and competitors to accept the entries at face value in instances where awards and/or prize money are not at stake."

As FSRC races and FSRC competition series do not involve prize money or awards of significant dollar value, the club has opted to permit club members and race participants to self-report gender in the interest of fulfilling our mission:  "To promote running for fitness, friendship and athletic development, in support of our members and the Frederick community" In the spirit of inclusivity, we encourage all community running events to embrace this policy as well.
