April 3rd: The Juniata Valley Home and Garden Show at the Mifflin County Youth Park in Reedsville has been postponed to a later date TBD.
April 3rd: The 50th Antique Show & Sale in the Belleville Community Hall has been postponed to a later date TBD.
April 2nd: Juniata County Jury Selection scheduled for April 9, 2020 is CANCELLED. Any juror who received a summons is excused and should not report. Once a jury selection can be safely held again, a new panel of jurors will be notified by mail. Any questions should be directed to the Prothonotary's office at 717-436-7715.
April 2nd: Lewistown-Granville High School Class of 1967 luncheon at Downtown OIP has been canceled. Next meal is May 6th at Sal-Lee’s Dream in Strodes Mills.
April 2nd: VFW Post 5935 Belleville meeting scheduled for April 2, 2020 has been canceled. The May 7th meeting is still scheduled.

April 1st: Fayette Township tax collector, Juniata County-tax hours canceled. Taxes should be mailed or deposited in the outside drop box.

April 1st: PennDOT driver and photo license centers are closed until further notice. Any permits, placards, and registrations expiring on/before April 30th now do not expire until May 31st.
April 1st: The Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce and Juniata Valley Visitors Bureau are closed.
April 1st: State Rep. Offices for Jake Corman, Rich Irvin, Kerry Benninghoff, and John Hershey have been closed to the public. Conduct business through phone or email.
April 1st: AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Services are suspended and remaining appointments have been canceled.
April st: Yeagertown Senior Center has suspended bingo, dominos, and lunches until further notice.
April 1st: All state park activities through the month of April are postponed. Programs will be rescheduled if possible.
April 1st: Brick Saturdays at the Mifflin County Libraries are postponed until further notice.
April 1st: The Knights of Columbus Lenten fish dinners will be postponed until further notice.
March 30th: Per the Mifflin County School District Skylert System, all PA school districts, including Mifflin County School District will remain closed until further notice.
March 30th: The Mifflintown Borough Council meeting for April 6, 2020 has been canceled.
March 28th: Centre County has been issued a Stay At Home Order by Governor Wolf.
March 27th: Due to the virus, the April 7th meeting of the Central PA Civil War Round Table is canceled. The next scheduled meeting is on May 5th at the PA Military Museum auditorium for Don Ernsberger's presentation on "Second Corps's Attack on the Mule Shoe." Subject to change. March 26th: Effective Monday, March 30, 2020 and continuing through Monday, April 6, 2020, at which time a determination will be made to re-open if conditions permit, the Board of Supervisors of Derry Township will temporarily close public gathering areas in Kishacoquillas Park.
The areas closed include the following: Playground area, all pavilions, dog parks, and all ball fields.
The walking trail and open areas of the park will remain open. Please practice social distancing in those areas. Thank you for your cooperation.
March 26th: Governor Wolf signed legislation late yesterday moving this year’s primary to June 2, 2020.
March 26: Burnham Lions Club Benefit Bingo scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at the has been cancelled.
March 26th: Juniata High School prom has been rescheduled to May 16th at 7 p.m.
March 25th: The Yeagertown Fire House Rabies Clinic scheduled for Saturday, April 4 has been postponed indefinitely.
March 24: In light of the coronavirus pandemic currently impacting the state, Rep. Rich Irvin (R-Huntingdon/Centre/Mifflin) has decided to cancel his annual Senior Expo scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Smithfield Fire Hall in Huntingdon.
March 22: The Mifflin County Housing Authority office will be closed through March 31.
March 20: The Borough of Lewistown is taking the following actions until further notice:
Borough offices along with the Lewistown Borough Police Department will be functioning; however, these buildings will be closed to the public effective immediately. All human to human contact with the public will be eliminated. We are still conducting services via mail, telephone, and email.
Borough council and committee meetings will still be conducted; however, they will be conducted online. The public is still welcome to participate. A link will be provided and posted on our website as soon as it is available.
The Borough is also suspending the mailing fees from now until the end of May for Refuse and Sewer payments. If the customer wishes to have the Borough mail their tags to them, you must let the Borough know when you submit the payment. Customers can place bills in the red drop box directly in front of the Borough Municipal Building, mail their payments in, or go online to www.lewistownborough.com to pay their bills.
The Borough is also temporarily discontinuing Refuse/Sewer late fees including termination fees/delinquent fees/and penalties until 10 business days after the declaration of emergency in effect is lifted.
Borough council has also suspended the street sweeper tickets.
At this time, the Borough Community Center will be closed until the mandate is lifted and the Borough will be refunding fees for any event closed due this emergency. Please call us at (717) 994-4368 if you have any questions.

March 20: The Mifflin County Courthouse will have limited access for the public. The courthouse will be closed to the public effective Monday, March 23. Offices will remain staffed, but all business will be conducted by appointment or email only. March 20: The Open Mic Night for the 'Homegrown Rock Radio Show' at East End Coffee scheduled for Friday March 28th has been POSTPONED
March 19: All local police departments have changed some standard operating procedures to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. All departments ask that the public curtail in-person visits to the stations unless it is absolutely necessary. Call the county dispatch number (717) 248-9607, for non-emergencies, and ask to speak with an officer instead.

March 19: The free Community Luncheon at the First United Methodist Church scheduled for Wednesday, March 25 has been cancelled.
March 19th: The spaghetti supper planned for March 28th at St Mark’s Lutheran Church has been postponed until further notice.
March 18th: The Saturday, March 28 chicken barbecue benefiting Boy Scout Troop 536 has been cancelled.
March 17th: Due to the emergency efforts now in place to mitigate the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Mifflin County Historical Society announces the closure of McCoy House Museum at 17 N. Main Street and the Society’s Research Library and office in the Historic Courthouse until further notice.
March 17th: The Mifflin County Historical Society announces the cancellation of the Annual Business Meeting and Spring Banquet scheduled for April 23, 2020 at the Penn Valley Christian Retreat. The meeting will be rescheduled for September at the same location at a time to be announced. Anyone already paid will be considered as registered for the Fall event. Refunds will be available if there is a conflict with the rescheduled date.
March 17: PennDOT Driver License Centers and Photo License Centers are closed for two weeks as of Monday, March 16. Expiration dates for driver licenses, identification cards, vehicle registrations, and safety and emission inspections will be extended through April 30
March 17th: Meals On Wheels deliveries for the Lewistown area are canceled for the next two weeks.
March 16: The All You Can Eat Breakfast scheduled for Saturday, March 21st at the East Salem United Methodist Church has been cancelled. Any questions contact the church office at 717-463-9694.
March 16: Leaders of Valley Rural Electric Cooperative announced today the cancellation of the April 3 annual meeting of co-op members due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The move is a precaution against possible spread of the coronavirus during what would have been a three-hour event that brings about 900 attendees into close proximity.
March 16: Women's Service Club sponsored Bingo scheduled for March 22 has been postponed. Apologies for any inconvenience to anyone.
March 16: The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide has suspended all services effective March 16. We are cancelling the remainder of our appointments at this time. The AARP will continue to assess the possibility of reopening the program and if the tax season gets extended.
March 16: The March 26, 2020 Huntingdon County Planning Commission annual dinner meeting has been cancelled due to the coronavirus. This decision has been made based on guidance from the County Commissioners Office, for the best interests of the residents of Huntingdon County and those who were planning on attending.
March 16: Mifflin County Kid Connection regrets to announce that Mifflin County Kid Connection will be cancelled for 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns. This was not a decision easily made but due to having to spend monies prior to the event date and the unknown future of social gatherings we thought it best to save and plan for next year’s event on April 24, 2021. We apologize and are deeply saddened that the decision needed to be made. Thank you for your support over the years and look forward to seeing everyone next year.

March 14: Miller Cinema 6 in Lewistown will be closed for two weeks out of an abundance of caution.
March 14th: Evangelical Lutheran Church of Reedsville cancelling services on March 15th and March 22nd due to Coronavirus Pandemic.
March 14th: The Mifflin County Library will be closed from Monday, March 16- Sunday, March 29. All library materials currently checked out will be due back April 3. No overdue fines or fees will be assessed during this time. While we regret the inconvenience this may cause, we are ever mindful of the health and safety of our community and our staff.
March 13th: All PA K-12 Schools and extracurricular activities are canceled for 10 business days (March 16th through March 27th), per Governor Wolf.
March 13: Geisinger’s School of Medicine and Geisinger Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing (GLH) will deliver classes online from March 16 to April 30.
