WHY  

Umpiring is great fun and is as much a part of the game as is playing itself. It is a rewarding feeling to walk off the field after a game, knowing that you have made a difference in the Little League playing experience of our players.

WHO  

Adult umpires are defined as those who have completed umpire training conducted each year and is certified by the Umpire-in-Chief and the Board of Directors. Adult umpires may umpire in AAA and Majors baseball and softball games.

Junior umpires are defined as a minimum of 13 years old who have completed umpire training conducted each year and is certified by the Umpire-in-Chief and the Board of Directors. Junior umpires may umpire in AAA and Majors baseball and softball games.

TRAINING  

Clearwater LL will provide training to all interested adult and junior umpires. GAMES  

Games are at Sid Lickton Ballfield Complex . The league schedules games throughout the week. Umpires are needed at games during these times:

Saturdays: Games occur throughout the day, typically between 9am – 5pm Mid-week: Games may be scheduled Mon – Fri, first pitch around 6:30pm

Umpires are expected to be present at the field at least 15 minutes before the first pitch

SCHEDULING  

Once training is completed and a volunteer is certified as an umpire, you will be able to sign-up for Clearwater LL games. Details of this process will be provided. NOTE: Adults (umpires or game coordinators) will be scheduled with junior umpires.

COMPENSATION  

Umpires may be compensated in the following methods:

JUNIOR UMPIRE:  

Community Service: Each game is worth 2 hours of community service Junior Payment**: Contact us for details

ADULT UMPIRE:  

Volunteer Service: For the good of the game, the community, and Clearwater LL

Umpires will also receive a free meal after their game.

**Umpires are not employees of the Clearwater Little League. The Clearwater LL does not offer any form of insurance to its paid umpires, and is not responsible, for payment of any costs related to any injury or illness incurred as a result of traveling to or from, or umpiring in any athletic contest assigned by Clearwater LL. Independent contractors are also not eligible for workers compensation.

EQUIPMENT  

Uniforms and equipment will be provided to all who need it for volunteers.
