Newsletter 19th October 2021

Kia ora Musselburgh Whānau,

It was great to welcome the students back to school after the holidays.

In this newsletter:

Alert Level 2 Procedures

Thank you for continuing to drop off and pick up your children off at the school gates. We’ll continue this procedure until a return to Alert Level 1. Please remember to scan in at the gate or sign in at the office and wear a face covering if you need to enter the school grounds. We continue to promote good hygiene and hand sanitising with the students whilst at school. The alert level sadly means that the Marimba Festival and South Zone Athletics will not go ahead this year and other large events are likely to be affected.

Otago Polyfest

The Polyfest is able to go ahead but under very different circumstances. Small groups only are able to perform and there is no audience. The whole week of performances is being live streamed so you will be able to watch our small group of 21 who will be onstage at 1.45pm tomorrow (Wednesday 20th). The link to watch is https://livestream.com/accounts/15197514/events/8812215 or you can get the link from the Otago Polyfest Facebook site

Teacher Only Day

A teacher only day has been arranged for Friday November 12th to enable Professional Development for our entire staff team, including updating of First Aid certificates.

School will be closed for instruction on this day.

Summer Sports

Touch - we have two touch teams entered. Games will start this Thursday - draw and Alert Level 2 procedure will be sent out when we get the information

Futsal - the numbers of teams able to be catered for at Edgar Centre under Alert Level 2 is much reduced and we have unfortunately missed out this term. This hasn’t affected us before and is a disappointing but understandable aspect of the pandemic. Hopefully everything will be back to normal including for futsal in term 1 2022. Mrs Ratten will organise refunds for those of you who have already paid fees.

Girls Smash Cricket - we are currently trying to arrange a team for the girls that registered for cricket as we didn’t have enough to make up a team

T-ball - we don’t have enough players to make up a team. If you would like your child to play in a team with another school please contact Ms Wealleans kathrynw@musselburgh.school.nz and we will try to organise this.

Important Term Dates

Teacher Only Day - Friday 12th November - School is closed

Last day of term 4 - Tuesday 14th December
