Great news for EFPS, the Trustees of the Keewatin Patricia District School Board have approved a major capital renovation, that will include an engineering assessment and staff consultation process beginning immediately. Staff and students will see the planning and consultation phase throughout this school year. The 2018-2019 school year will see classes moved to portables as the interior work is completed. This is very exciting news for EFPS and we are looking forward to getting the needed upgrades. The EFPS Capital Project is the third in terms of Board major priorities after the new high school construction in Sioux Lookout, and the replacement school of an elementary school in Kenora.
Over the course of this school year, planning for the retrofitting and renovations will occur, alongside planning for the operations of EFPS next year, 2018-2019. This gives school staff and Board Administration a full year to ensure appropriate pupil accommodations are addressed. All EFPS parents/guardians and staff can expect an official communication from Director of Education Sean Monteith within the next few weeks detailing forward steps. This work represents the biggest capital work undertaken at EFPS since its original construction in 1970.
