To whom it may concern:

I’m writing you today as a concerned fan of Major League Soccer. As you may have heard, Columbus Crew team owner Anthony Precourt is considering relocating the team to Austin, Texas.

Since you are one of the league’s corporate partners, your company is directly affected by this. Fans of Major League Soccer, both in Columbus and across the country, are standing up against this move. If you look on social media, you will find fans of literally every soccer team in the country using the #SaveTheCrew hashtag, changing their avatars to Crew colors, or otherwise showing their support; in addition, several prominent media personalities have spoken out against the move as well.

As a fan of Major League Soccer, I have tremendous respect for the history of the Columbus Crew as the league’s first team, and believe the league would be making a colossal mistake in relocating them.  I would find it much harder to support a league that treats its supporters so poorly, and I know I am not alone.

As such, I am asking you today to speak out. Reach out to Major League Soccer and Precourt Sports Ventures and voice your support for the team remaining in Columbus. Whatever influence or say you have in matters relating to business relationships with MLS and/or the Columbus Crew, I ask that you use them to prevent this from happening, or letting the ownership know that there are consequences for this action.

These MLS fans are your customers, your neighbors, and your friends. We hope that you yourselves are fans of the sport—but at very least, we hope you are a fan of strong and vibrant supporter communities in Columbus and around the league for our soccer teams.

Thank you so much for your consideration in this matter. Your support means the world to us.
