Spring 2018 Program Monday - Friday ~ March 7th - May 25th, 2:45-5:00 pm

Our primary goal is to have children come to after-school programs. Please do not let the fee prevent you from enrolling your child/children.  Quality Programming for as low as $2.98 a day!

There are scholarships available please talk to Mrs. Erica Baker for more information.

Daily Schedule: includes snack, recess, enrichment activity and homework time.

These programs are funded in part through a
   Vermont Agency of Education 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant received in 2015.

Mondays

  Fun with Spanish!

Leader: Mrs. Jessica Lamberton-Brown   

 ** For Grades K-2** 

 Group limit: 15

Students will learn how to speak basic words (numbers, colors, body parts) in Spanish through games and activities.

  Light Up the Night:

An Electrical Engineering Challenge

Leader: Mrs. Nikki Clark

 ** For Grades 3-6** Group limit: 20

In this unit, kids are introduced to the Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis. Throughout this activity, children will learn about electrical engineering and work to engineer a

light display that mimics the Northern Lights.

Bubble FUN!

Leader: Ms. Jessica Lamberton-Brown

** For Grades K-3**

Group Limit 20

In this activity students will explore with different types of materials to create bubbles of different sizes.

The Jungle Book Musical

 **For Grades 4-6**  Group limit: 20

If you are in Grades 4-6 and would like to attend REACH! But not be in the Musical you may sign up to help with Bubble Fun!

Students must sign up for Both Tuesday and Thursday for this activity.

Adapted from Disney's beloved animated film and the works of Rudyard Kipling, the “man cub” Mowgli, bounds through the jungle and learns what it means to be human.

Wednesdays

               Recycling Adventure

     Leader: Mr. John Jose

***Open to Grades K-2***

Group Limit 12

John is the School Zero Waste Coordinator from Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District. In this program he will be showing the students how to recycle or repurpose items through lessons and art projects.

Mini Milers:

Running Group

 Leader: Mrs. Hannah Allen

** For Grades 2-6**  

Group limit: 20

With the help of their leader, each participant tracks their mileage, while earning incentives as they strive towards the goal of reaching the marathon distance or beyond. There is an additional fee for participation in this but there are scholarships from RunVermont to help cover this. If a child receives free lunch then there isn’t any additional cost.  

Once you register through REACH! Erica will give you the paperwork to sign up through RunVermont who sponsors this program.

NEW! Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Programming

 Leader: Katie Black, UVM Extension EFNEP Educator

“Choose Health: Food, Fun, and Fitness” includes:  Active Games & Challenges,  Food Preparation & Healthy Snacks, Nutrition Experiments, Discussion & Goal setting, Building healthy habits

 “Choose Health: Food, Fun and Fitness” is designed to promote healthy eating and active living for children ages 8-12, through six hands-on, interactive sessions, each including food and games! Designed by the Division of Nutritional Sciences, Cornell University.

NEK Kids on the Move

**For Grades 4-6**** Group Limit 12

REACH! has teamed up with NEK Kids on the Move  to offer this exciting opportunity. This session NEK Kids on the Move will be focusing on archery and ping pong.

Puppet Plays for fun and expressive thinking!

Leader: Mrs.  LeCours

 ** For Grades K-3** Group limit: 15

Borrowing ideas from many cultures children will create puppet characters using a variety of materials and learn to perform with confidence and collaboration. Combining imagination, storytelling and hand-made puppets students will be engaged while practicing language and literacy skills too!
