ELA

We have finished reading Ghost Boys, by Jewell Parker Rhodes, and are preparing for our final FISHBOWL DISCUSSION  of the year.

This time students will not only consider the texts we read during this final unit, but also how they connect to all other topics we have studied this year as they prepare Costa Leveled questions to bring to the discussion.

We’ve been learning about the Columbian Exchange and the impact of European exploration and colonization of the Americas.  This week we’ll be learning about the Middle Passage and the Atlantic slave trade.

7th grade AVID has focused on community building and the basics of organization for the first few weeks of school. We’re now moving into the Tutorial process, in which students will form collaborative groups to assist one another with challenging questions and “Points of Confusion” in their academic classes.

Our gallery show opening was this week and it was a wonderful success. 43 students had their decks selected to be a part of the gallery in Push. It’ll be up for the next two weeks.

Now we are preparing for our Biltmore field trip which will take place next Wednesday. We will be making art en plein air on the grounds of the house. It should be a wonderful day.
