Q: Will the people that recieve my messages know that I sent them?
A: No. Your identity is kept private. It is not tied to your message when your message is sent to other members. QUOKA is anonymous text messaging. To have an even deeper level of privacy, when setting up your membership, choose a “handle”. For example “top chica”, or “friendly founder” vs using your name.
Even if you use your real name when setting up your profile, we will not share your name when exchanging messages with other members.
The beauty of this project is that the messages come from strangers. Someone you don’t even know cares enough to take a few minutes of their time to send a message. Your phone number is never known to them, and you never know who the message is sent to.
Q: What is my membership payment used for?
A: Your membership payment is used to supplement the cost of making the program work. Making sure that the messages are sent out to people that need them, that the message is kind and empowering, and that it is curated for the person that receives it.
Q: Who sends the messages?
A: Most messages that members receive are from other members of the QUOKA community. From time to time you will receive system messages to customize your preferences, and prompt messages to support engagement.
Q: Who sees the messages I send?
A: Most messages that you send are seen by other members of QUOKA. All messages sent are seen by the internal QUOKA team. Messages that are spammy in nature or harmful for the community vibe are only seen by the QUOKA team.

A: Thank you for wanting to help. Your support is appreciated. You can help by:

Q: Can I forward the messages that are sent to me to people not members of QUOKA?
A: Absolutely, please share them as much as you like. You can also gift memberships to QUOKA. Just visit quokkame.substack.com and follow the gift a subscription steps or email quoka@chibur.info.
Q: I am a member and I want to cancel. How do I?
A: We’re sad to see you go! We urge you to consider changing your membership level to one that is more affordable if that is your concern. If you just want to cancel, send QUOKA a message asking to cancel. Cancellations are processed immediately.
Q: What is QUOKA?
A: QUOKA is the anonymous texting club. The members only platform that allows the members to exchange text messages anonymously. It is designed to increase your mental health.
Q: What are the membership levels?
A: Right now we are offering two memberships. Paid either yearly ($70) or monthly $7 per month. If you are a veteran or feeling depressed you may qualify for a free membership. Email quoka@chibur.info for details.
Q: Why did you change the membership levels?
A: We learned a lot while testing Project IB and now we are trying to build a more scalable version of the Project under the name QUOKA. The technology that we are using to test QUOKA only allows us to have one membership level. In the future we may offer multiple different types of memberships again.

Q: I’m receiving too many messages, how can I get less?
A: No problem! We understand you’re busy. Send QUOKA a message asking to change your frequency.
Q: I don’t have WhatsApp can I still use QUOKA?
A: Yes! Now that we are QUOKA, anyone based in the United States or Canada can join as a member of QUOKA. If you are not located in the USA or CA, we look forward to welcoming you in a future version. Please join our email list at quokkame.substack.com.
Q: How do you prevent members from sending malicious messages?
A: If malicious messages are sent, QUOKA prevents them from getting to you. We cannot prevent members from sending malicious messages. QUOKA is a safe space for people to express whatever they would like. Since all messages sent in are first analyzed by QUOKA, malicious or negative in nature messages are prevented from being sent out to other members. We recognize that if someone is sending in malicious messages, they may need resources of support, and those are provided on an individual basis to members.
