COSPLAY KARAOKE ENCORE
RULES AND GUIDELINES
DESCRIPTION
The Cosplay Karaoke is a fun variation of the karaoke contest where contestants must dress up in costume while singing to their favourite music while the song’s lyrics are displayed on screen.
Cosplay Karaoke Encore will be a solo karaoke contest that lets the contestant sing their heart out to the song of their choice from English to Japanese songs that originated from any anime or even a J-pop music from any Japanese band/artist.
REGISTRATION
Contest registration is only available online.
To register, please click HERE. Competitors must provide the following details:
The following information must be submitted through the form below.
- The contestant’s real name;
- The contestant’s stage name;
- The contestant’s working contact details (mobile phone AND email);
- Character the contestant is cosplaying as;
- Series of which the character they’re cosplaying came from;
- Your top 5 preferred song choices;
- The day you wish to perform (Day 1 or Day 2);
NOTE: Online registrants are still REQUIRED to confirm their participation for the contest on the day itself and are asked to approach the contest registration table before 2:00PM, otherwise FORFEITING their slot.
The information above must be truthful; falsifying any of the information will result in instant disqualification and the applicant will not be allowed to join the succeeding year's competition as an additional penalty.
All registration information will be kept in the strictest of confidence and other competitors will not be informed whether a particular competitor has entered the contest or not.
COSPLAY KARAOKE ENCORE FINALIST SELECTION
- From all the entries submitted online, only a maximum of ten (10) contestants will be allowed to join the competition per day.
- Finalists will then be contacted via email, but will need to confirm their entry during the event day itself. If they do not confirm by 2:00PM, Wait-listed and on-site registrants will be allowed to take their slot.
SONG SELECTION
For online & wait-listed registrant:
- Once entry has been confirmed, contestants will receive an email mentioning that they have a confirmed slot and the availability of their top 5 song list.
- Based on the list provided as well as it’s availability, we’ll automatically assign the top most available song to the contest based on their submitted list
- Example: From the list submitted, number 3-5 are the ones available. Of which, we’ll automatically assign the song listed on number 3 as the song assigned for them.
- If they wish to change songs to a different one, it is only possible to change it to based on the song selection provided and given that it is still available at the time of a song change request
- If all the songs provided on the top 5 list are not available, they will be informed via email and need to submit another list of top 5 song choices.
ATTENDANCE AND CALL TIMES
- Contestants MUST confirm their attendance on or before 2:00 PM on July 16, 2022 (Day 1) or on July 17, 2022 (Day2).
- All contestants will be required to purchase tickets to the event in order to participate, but there will be no additional registration fees to join the contest.
- Failure to arrive prior to the call-time, may be grounds for disqualification for the contest.
- Regardless if said contestant already has an ID number, indicating that he/she is participating for the contest.
- As a health and safety precaution, contestant/s who are feeling unwell are not allowed to participate even if registered, and are strongly urged to stay at home.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
- Fanservice (ie. yaoi, yuri, etc.) is allowed but should be “General Patronage”. Any kind of extreme kind of fanservice (ie. kissing, PDA, etc.) that is deemed inappropriate for minors are strictly prohibited. Keep in mind this is a wholesome and a General Patronage event.
- Clothing that are too revealing (ie. exposes private parts) are prohibited. Scantily clad and/or sexy costumes are allowed but not encouraged. Cosplay.ph management has the right to disqualify any participant on this ground.
- All kinds of costume props must be handled with utmost care and must not be harmful to his/her fellow contestants, event staff and event attendees.
- Any kind of sharp and/or bladed objects that will be used as costume props that could cut human flesh are strictly prohibited.
- Any kind of pyrotechnic equipment/s that will be used as costume props that could render damage to the venue and/or property is strictly prohibited.
- The organizers, Cosplay.PH Management and its staff will not be held responsible for damage or injury resulting from mishandling and/or negligence of a contestant in his/her use of props/materials throughout the duration of the event.
- Contestants under eighteen (18) years of age as of the event date must have their parent/s and/or legal guardian/s sign the waiver/image release form to be provided at the registration table.
- Cosplay.PH Management reserves the right to disqualify any contestant who ignores and/or violates any of the aforementioned guidelines above also including but not limited to:
- Unsportsmanlike conduct towards other competitors
- Unruly behavior towards competitors, organizers and staff
- Violation of any of the ongoing level 1 COVID-19 restrictions.
- Registration and participation in this contest constitute that the contestant gives the right and the authority to the ACX 2022 organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to take pictures and/or videos of registered contestants, teams and its members and will be the sole property of the organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to be used for future publications and/or advertising promotions.
- Organizers, their staff, as well as their relatives up to the 2nd degree of affinity or consanguinity are disqualified from participating in the competition. This includes parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, uncles or aunts, first cousins, nephews or nieces, and brother or sister.
COSPLAY KARAOKE GUIDELINES
- The competition is restricted to a maximum of ten (10) contestants.
- If the ten (10) slots have not yet been taken by the day of the competition, we will then allow for the wait-listed registrants to take any open slots available
- Cosplay Karaoke Encore will be held on both days of ACX 2022; July 16, 2022 (Day 1, Saturday) and July 17, 2022 (Day 2, Sunday)
- Contestants must be in costume, although the costume does not necessarily have to be from any specific series. The costume could even be an original costume, but bonus points could be provided for particularly creative costumes.
- During the current alert level, contestants are required to wear face masks before, and after their performance time as part of the current ongoing COVID-19 safety protocol, as well as following social distancing while in the backstage area.
- During each contestant's performance time, they are allowed to remove their facemask. Though they are REQUIRED to wear them once more prior to leaving the stage
- Contestants can choose any anime/J-game songs. ENGLISH songs are allowed; however, they will still be checked for availability and we highly encourage Japanese songs to go with the event’s theme.
- Example: Savage Garden – I want you (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable)
- For online registrants, upon confirmation of entry on the day of the contest, contestants will be reminded of which song they will be performing based on the top 5 song choices they have submitted (with the first song being the highest and the fifth song requested being the last priority).
- For wait-listed registrants, IF there are available slots, the contestant will be informed which of the five (5) selections they submitted they’ll be performing. The songs the contestant will be performing to will be based on their listed priority (with the first song being the highest and the fifth song requested being the last priority.) If none of their requested songs are available, they will be informed immediately.
- The song will then be played for up to 1 minute to 1 minute and 30 seconds which essentially covers the 1st chorus of the song, whereupon the judges will score their performance.
- The winners from the previous day will no longer be allowed to join in the succeeding day.
JUDGING CRITERIA
A panel of judges will judge the contest with the following criteria in mind:
- Voice Quality (40%): The quality and clarity of the singer’s voice as well as the singer’s proper use of diction.
- Performance Quality (45%): Overall quality of the performance including synchronization of the vocals with the music as well as their overall stage presence.
- Costume Quality and Relevance (15%): The creativity of the costume being worn as well as how it complements the performance of the song.
JUDGING PENALTIES
In addition to the judging scores, penalties will be imposed on the following rule infractions:
- Unsportsmanlike Conduct (10% Infraction): For actions that are demeaning to the organizers, staff or judges or that incite conflict in the competition, a 10% score deduction will be applied. If this unsportsmanlike conduct continues, it may result in disqualification and ejection from the venue grounds.
- Multiple cases of unsportsmanlike conduct or willful defamation of character of any of the organizers, staff, judges or fellow competitors will result in a year-long suspension from any events organized by Cosplay.ph.
- Intentional Violation of Contest Rules (20% Infraction plus 1-Season Suspension): For proven cases of cheating, dishonesty and sabotage, a 20% score deduction will be applied. In addition, the offending contestant will be given a 1-Season Suspension where they will be unable to join the competition for the remainder of the competition as well as the next year's competition.
Cosplay Karaoke Encore judges’ decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
AWARDS
At the end of the event, the scores will be tabulated and the highest scores based on the judges will be determined for the winners of each day's competition. The awards will be as follows:
- Cosplay Karaoke Encore Champion - ₱1000 cash
- Cosplay Karaoke Encore Runner-Up - ₱500 cash
All winners must be present for the awarding ceremony and must be in full costume.
- If the winner is not present during the awarding ceremony, the next highest scoring competitor will be awarded the prize instead.
- If there is a compelling reason for the contestant not to be present during the awarding ceremony, they will be required to inform an organizer beforehand and provide a proxy for themselves during the awarding ceremony.
