Health and Safety Policy

The BTC will appoint a H+S officer to act as the main point of contact for all health and safety related matters.
The H+S officer is responsible for:-
- Ensuring the BTC annual insurances policies are up to date and provide:-
- £10m Officers and Directors Liability - protecting the committee officers from claims arising against them
- £10m Employers Liability - protecting employee and volunteers from claims arising against them when conducting activity on behalf of the association
- £10m Public Liability - protecting the organisation from claims arising from teh general activities of the association
For insurance renewal quotation purposes, the normal activities of the association include the building and maintenence of singletrack trails using hand tools only in sometimes remote and rural and hill locations, under the supervision and management of a work part leader who has been qualified as part of the Lead Trailbuilder Training and Awards scheme
- Conducting regular trail inspections to identify hazards and updating the the BTC Trail Hazard/Issue report.
- Reviewing and updating teh BTC risk assessment and identifying procedures and protocols to mitigate against risk.
- Reviewing and updating the BTC crew briefing
- Training work party leaders on:-
- How to managing groups effectively and safely
- How to deal with incidents
- Administering First Aid
- How to complete the BTC online incident form after ANY incident and following-up on each case.
- Updating this H+S policy
