Woodstock Reformed Church Special Consistory Meeting

Dec. 22, 2023

Present:  Cari Pattison, Gail Boestell, Mike Terner, Ed Jabs, Shannon Godfrey, Larry Todd, Sandy Todd (treasurer), Ken Bailer, Jim Ulrich, Annie LaValle

Absent:  Lisa Krause

Meeting was conducted under leadership of FOC chairperson, Mike Terner via telephone

Concern was raised regarding shortfall in pledged money for 2023 received to date as well as pledge shortfall projected for 2024

According to Sandy, year to date expenses are $191,000.  Pledges for 2023 totalled $183,642 and as of today we have received $162,061, leaving a shortage of $21,587. Since pledged money did not meet the actual expenses the shortfall is in the range of $38,000.

Various means of trying to bring in that money were discussed.  Annie will address the conversation on Sunday morning during “moment for giving,” clearly stating what the financial shortfall is and encouraging both those who have pledged and those who have not to step out and help meet the expenses of our church.

There will be a follow-up email sent the week between Christmas and New Years to put in writing concerns expressed in church. This email, with financial figures clearly stated will be composed by Annie and Cari with consultation with our treasurer.

It was determined that at this point we will not address the problem with 2024 pledges. That will be addressed in January. Update: Cari sent out thank-you’s to every 2024 pledging person/family (about 30 units), and notes encouraging a pledge to every active WRC participant/family who’s not made a pledge (about 40 units).

Susan Ulrich, Clerk of Consistory
